Boston area bent riders?

Would have posted on reigonal, but thought i'd get a better respose here. So, any bent riders in the Area? Any of you like riding long distances on said bent (randonneuring)? I just got bent and am looking foward to this years Brevet series, anyone looking for another reclined riding buddy?
Lemme know...

I'm newly 'bent myself (Longbikes Slipstream), but live down in eastern CT not the Boston area. But I'm considering doing some of the Boston and Berkshire brevets. Also doing the Pan Mass - Sturbridge to Provincetown charity ride in August... So perhaps we'll run into each other at some point...

At this point I'm thinking of perhaps trying a few of the Boston Hell Week events in early June - start with the 200 and see if I've got anything left for another one - but I've also got some other stuff going on that week so we'll play it by ear... The Berkshire D2R2 ride sounds intriguing too...

hey, yah those events do sound like fun, especially the d2r2, that looks very excelent. I will be aiming at the Boston and Berkshire events too. What is your first planed brevet? I feel very confident already on the bent... not fast, but confident. i feel i could do a metric century today with no issues, but i need more conditiononing for my legs and knees for longer distances so i dont know how soon i should ride a 200...300...400? I believe there is a 200k coming up in a few weeks, right? are you going to ride?

Good luck, btw

Boston area

There's a yahoo Group for New England Area 'bent riders:

https://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group...andBentRiders/

Some of those riders are talking about doing the Boston Brevets. I would LOVE to...... but I think I won't have time.

I've a Goldrush and ride in the S. Natick area, west of Boston. Spring time I start with 20-30 miles 15 mph.

Thanks for the responses... to the replies from conn. natick and newton just let me know when you are riding and if you want some company, maybe we could get some rides in. I work in Newton (newtonville) and my afternoon rides start from there. Oh, i am riding a Bacchetta Giro 26... verry nice. My pace should be around 15-16mph average and hopefully higher as my legs acclimate.

Oh, brother. I live AND work (at home) in Newtonville so ALL my rides start from there. Sadly, I am fighting a cold so I can't take advantage of the welcome higher temperatures this week. But I'll ride with you as soon as I can. I generally do a quick 25 mile ride to Dover and back. Or sometimes to Concord-Carlisle for about 40 miles. I ride a Strada, or an Optima Baron, or a Catrike Road depending on ... well, depending on whatever a person depends on when choosing what machine to ride that day.

(Hey, you don't happen to work at a fitness place on Walnut Street do you? No, that would be too funny!)

Dude, I am a fan of your bike! I told you so when you were climbing Cabot Street not too long ago.
Sooooo funny!
I figured "high mileage rider" + "commutes to Newtonville" = "yellow bar tape and fender guy"
Did you get a 2007 Giro 26? Probably. Also yellow.
Welcome to recumbos. Once I shake this cold, we'll arrange to ride.

Welp, maybe you already know that getting out to Needham/Dover/Sherborn is easy from Newton - the excellent roads that the CRW uses on Saturday rides. That's where I go most often. In case you don't know - but most likely you do:
Go out Cabot, right on Center. At Newton Center, cross Beacon, bear left on Parker. Go as far as you can, then left on Dedham. Next major intersection, right on Nahanton, becomes Kendrick ... cross 128, and go left on Greendale. Take that to Great Plain, go right, first left is South, which takes you to a world of nice fun roads.

Scott has run excellent 'bent rides at various times over the years. Lately, attendence has been spotty. He tried to start a regular Sunday thing last year, and I made one .... but it just didn't catch on. There was a Bacchetta open house at his shop and a ride in conjunction with that, too. We also had a fun, but wet ride in October that Scott generously hosted.
There's also a NE Bent Riders Yahoo Group I mentioned in the earlier post. Rich Pinto (Bacchetta principle/Aero designer, etc - in southern NH) set that up with hopes of getting riders to organize and announce rides in New England. So far, the Preliminary (100K) Boston Brevet has been mentioned on the group. March 31. Hopefully some other rides will start to happen. Also, Ethan Davis (Wildfire HPV) has run a NE HPV event the last few years in Northampton and has also set up a Yahoo group to arrange and announce ride events including a possible HPV race on 5/5.

Yes, quite possibly. Just watching the weather, and my health - but should be good to go by then.

hey, 21 March i am done with work by 3:30 and 4:00 on 23 march. Thursdays and saturdays I am done even earlier. I work approximately 10 miles from Dover, so this is a consideration. What times were you planning on riding? on these days?

Sorry to hear it. It turns out we are riding tomorrow afternoon.
In the future, you might want to check in at:

https://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group...andBentRiders/

That's where a lot of discussion involving 'bent rides seesm to be taking place.

Hope you recover soon.
