Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

It's official, I've joined the dark side.

I've been around this forum for a while, even answered a few questions where I was able. I've been a primary caretaker of a recumbent for I guess three years, but have very little ride time.

That changes now. I test rode a couple today, starting with a Bacchetta Giro 20, but ended up with a Café to match my wife's. I was fairly certain that was what I'd end up with but wanted to give others a chance before I decided.

Now it's time to tear down my road bike, swapping the frame to my son who has now gotten tall enough that it will fit him better than me, and move my computer over to the Café. I look forward to many miles on it, being able to see things around me, and most importantly, being able to ride with my wife without a huge disparity in what each of our bikes were built to do.

Congratulations and welcome to the other side.

I hope you both get many years enjoyment from riding your recumbents.

Well as I said to someone else asking about 'bents, they seem to be the logical evolution of the bicycle. I have evolved. Thanks for the warm welcome!

I too joined the dark side last Friday! I convinced my brother to buy a recumbent a year ago... I saw my recumbent on sale and tried to convince my other brother who is having back surgery in two weeks that he needed to buy it; but he turned me down… so I bought it! My wife complained that I have too many bikes… but that’s another thread!
