My baby was delivered today!!!!
She's a red Sun AX with flag and a bell so far. (I was so excited when I bought the bike that I forgot to ask for the rearview mirror and a kickstand.) The owner of the shop delivered her to my house.
I took that thing out and rode for an hour and a half. I had the cheesy "recumbent smile" going on the whole time. It flew on flat land, and I felt totally comfortable riding the bikes lanes and even the smaller neighborhood streets. (Never quite had that feeling on the old Beach Cruiser.) I also rode it on the the dirt and rock canal routes. One of the coolest parts was getting all the smiles and waves from people, especially the kids. God, I am so in love right now! I just peeked at her on my enclosed patio, and wanted to blow a kiss. ...Does that make me a lesbian? :D |

Congratulations....continue to enjoy the ride.

I took it out again today, just to show it to my boyfriend's son. (Yes, I'm using gender neutral pronouns now, which means I'm calming down a little bit.)
In the parking lot of my condo building, I was stopped 2 times with questions about the bike. One guy asked me if he could ride it, and I let him. (I was a little paranoid, but there were buddies of his moving some things of value out of a pick-up that I could have held hostage and there's only 1 exit to the parking lot, so he would have to get by me to get away.) It was a younger guy (maybe in his 20's), and he just loved it. He kept carrying on about what a cool ride it was, and finally said it was "Sick" (which, I hear, is a big compliment among the younger crowd). I was so proud! ...Then, I just had to go riding again. I figured that riding at night on a 4th of July Friday was not such a good idea, so I found an empty lot nearby and did figure 8's for a while. I even got to see a second round of fireworks from the lot. I am feeling good. |
Ditto on the not safe to ride the streets on July 4th night. I did it and had to detour many times. However I did stop at several friends houses just to say hi and at one got a beverage. Continue to enjoy.

If you're gonna be hanging out here and buying new rides, then you are required to invest in a digital camera. Cheap ones work pretty well these days.
|
Do you have a link to a photo?
|
Just to be clear: in English, machines are usually given a feminine pronoun. So it's perfectly all right to refer to your new bike as a "she."

I just realized that it's the S-1 SX. Yes, I am that stupid. I bought a bike without knowing which one it was. (But I really, really liked the test-ride. I could handle it better than I could handle the Rans.)
So, here is how to access the photo. Go to http://sunbicycles.com/index.html Then, click on recumbents. Then, click on new models. Then click on the S-1 SX sport. That's it. Sorry I can't do better. The site won't allow me to cut and paste anything, including the link. |

I wasn't able to ride for a couple of days. Then tonight, I did my short 2 mile turnaround to the lake without even breaking a sweat. So, I guess I'm getting in condition.:) |

I went out riding tonight for almost 2 hours, as I'm still working on finding the best commuter path to work. My biggest obstacle is a freeway, which kind of messes up bike paths, trails and side streets for about a mile...but that's another story. The main point here is that I rode for about 14 miles, and when I came back, I still had lots of energy. My neighbor couldn't believe that I had gone so far and didn't even look all exhausted and overheated. ...You can just ride on these things f o r e v e r . I can't even imagine what it's going to be like after I have the motor installed. |
