Apparently not.

[Okay, I just recently got my sticky fingers on an EasyRacers EZ1, but I don't have anything worth posting about yet.]

Yes, I visit several times a week but am not a chatter. Maybe I'll post some pictures in a couple weeks when I get my Baron. Still riding my Lynx for now.

Pictures of homebuilt

Here are some pictures of a bent I built a few years ago. I currently ride a similar design. Comments?

Are you getting Don Smiths baron? or are you somebody else. I know Don just sold one to a guy in California.

That's me, Chris! Just started assembly recently. Unraveling Don's meticulous wrap-and-pack job was a project in itself - he must have been an ancient Egyptian mummy preparer in some previous life. He's given some great tips and advice to me, though, which will add to my enjoyment once I start riding the Baron. I look forward to tapping into the accumulated experience of all you lowracer guys there in Michigan (Tri-County?)

Eddie

These are pictures of the bike I ride now. I built it in 1999 and have put several thousand kilometers on it.

Hey Canuck1...
Nice Job, What is the frame material?
Do you plan to build any more bents?

I have so far built 2 SWB's and now I'm building a compact lowracer.
It's just as much fun building them as riding them.

The pic is of Bent #1, this was just after it was completed and before a number of alterations. It is now sitting in my garage waiting for the chop... I'm going to downsize it a bit so my 11yo daughter can ride it.

That is a great looking bike NuTz...actually our bikes are pretty similar; monotube, SWB, sort of raised USS with bar end shifters.

I was thinking about a low-racer for real speed but lately I have been looking at the Bachetta style...still aero but way higher. They are supposed to be very fast and you are sitting up nice and high. A little tricky in the stop and go though I think.

I might be just looking for an excuse to build something.

Sorry, I forgot to answer any of your questions. The frame is made of 2" 6061-T6 thin wall aluminum tubing. I chose aluminum because it is light, cheap, readily available in my area. Also it is very easy to work with. I cut it with a carbide wood blade in my table saw. The only really expensive part is getting it TIG welded together. This frame cost me about $300 to have welded.

This is the second really usable bent I have built and this one was built in 1999 so really I don't build them any more.
