Hello from a recumbent noob

I just got a recumbent a few days ago and am in love with it. I purchased a Sun EZ-1 used for the right price and having no basis of comparison all I know is there is no back or wrist pain. After trying to find an upright fit that would work for me--minor scoliosis--this is fantastic! The bike is built like a tank, which is good as I'm around 285 lbs. If I can I'd like to do some light touring/overnight camping on it. I've only got about 30-miles on it but I know that this is going to be the key to getting into those long rides I hear everyone talking about.

In any case, Hello!

Jim

Good luck with your new bike. I have been riding bents for over a decade, after many years on uprights. I would never go back....:thumb:

Welcome, Jim. Good luck with the Sun EZ-1. I 've never ridden one of those, but they look comfortable. If yours has fenders, then you needn't worry about wet roads, eh? I hope you'll post more after riding and tell us how you like it and what struck you as odd when riding it, etc.

And welcome to the 'bent forum, Jim. It's a little quiet here, as most bent riders go to bentrideronline.com, but those of us who do frequent the forum are usually pretty nice.

When you need Sun specific parts, try Easy Street Recumbents online. They have taken care of all my parts needs. bk

Welcome to recumbentoria. I got a RANS Stratus XP last summer and it has solved all of those problems for me. I take it touring and it holds up well. If you're just getting interested in touring, try this site.

Welcome to the Bent world.-Word of Caution-Hide your credit cards. You are going to want to do upgrades and buy all the toys that go along with bent riding. Have fun and enjoy the ride

Welcome to the club! Be warned, you're going to find yourself wanting to cycle more than ever now that you've switched to a bent. As for myself, I look for any excuse to get go riding!

Oh yeah, put your razor away, you should be growing out your beard by now.

Another welcome to the world of comfort and joy...and health, because being comfortable means you want to ride more and enjoy the ride. SO enjoy.

Is it cheating to ride the recumbent? Sure seems easier on my back and wrists.

Cheating is going for a ride with other cyclists during the Super Bowl, having a small sound system with one of those tiny portable TV's rigged on your bars while riding, and constantly yelling out "YEAH!!!!!!".
