Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

Just bought a vintage recumbent

Hello forum. I'm new here and to recumbents. I saw an old recumbent with a for sale sign on it and couldn't pass it up.

It is a Kann Iowa Linear 1.0. I believe it was the first model Kann sold. It needs a little work on it. I haven't been able to find much info on them, so if anyone knows much about these bikes, or know how much one that has been refurbished is worth please let me know.

Serial Number under the frame says "101"

ANY AND ALL INFO HELPS!

This is it: https://www.linearrecumbent.com/image...mage_01_lg.jpg

Thanks!

The Bicycle Man recumbent shop bought the Linear brand and still makes the bikes.

Here's a video on fitting the Linear.

this is, I believe, a 1987 Kann Iowa. I'm looking for specifics on the old ones, not new ones.

There is historical information on Linear bikes on the bicycleman/linear site previously posted.

I'd suggest visiting the message boards at www.bentrideronline.com, if you haven't already.

Welcome.

Before doing much riding, you should probably take a look at this Linear safety message and do an careful frame check.

+1 on studying the Linear safety message. Also, definitely contact Pete Stull at Bicycleman.com. He knows these puppies inside and out and there are few people out there who could help you more than he.

Odds are, you'll be ok with your purchase, but he'll still be able to answer any questions you might have as well as questions you don't know you need to ask!

I have one...have welded the frame (where the two pieces on back meet the main frame) once or twice...that is the reason all are mentioning the warnings...
Mine used to have one brake lever for both brakes but that broke so I installed two singles...no replacement for the singe brake lever.
if you have specific questions I might be able to answer but I too refer you to Pete Stull as the expert.
peace
