Sources for used recumbents

I want to make sure that I am not missing any good sources of used recumbent bikes. I know of the for sale stuff here, and on bentrider, and on some of the actual dealer websites, but are there other sources of used recumbent bikes that I am missing? ebay scares me a little, but I do browse it from time to time.

I'll probably go new to try and support a particular nice bike shop and new shiny bikes are always great, but my budget is yelling at me for thinking in this greedy fashion.

thanks

Found my first 'bent in the classified ads on the website of the Central Indiana Bicycling Association a few years ago. Not much action of any sort going on there recently. Not sure if I've seen any more 'bents on there in the five years since.

I use crazedlist.com and save a search for recumbents under bikes for a number of local craigslist areas.

Got my EZ-TAD CX tadpole trike from Craigslist. Had to drive about 80 miles to pick it up, but it was well worth it, plus I got to see a nice foothill town I'd never visited before.

Before we decided to buy "NEW", we were seriously looking at the used recumbents at our local recumbent bike dealership! although most of their machines were out of our price range we did find a couple that would have made good, "starter bents", FYI, YMMV.

Call dealers and ask what they have. They often don't list everything they have used on their websites.

Ebay scares me too, which is just as well being as they`ve banned me :D

I can`t imagine you haven`t tried Craigslist, my favorite place to buy anything. On that note, +1 on crazedlist. com- it makes life much easier. As far as I know, it only works with Firefox though, so you might have to download that if you don`t have it.

Try this search engine. Just type in the bike you are looking for. You can use the drop-down menu to add bike maker.
You can also search State by State , but I leave it blank to see what's available nationwide, that way you get some good price variations.

Bentrider online has a for sale section in their forums. I've bought several bents through there.

www.statewidelist.com is another good craigslist search / ebay search site.

makes it very easy to search craigslist by state.

I have used ebay to buy brand new PW 48 hole hubs for my expedition bike, Brooks B17 saddles that folks got tired of breaking in, and my GTO Greenspeed. :thumb:

I've used ebay for a number of pricy purchases, which include a 2008 QNT. You have to do your homework. Check up on the seller. Check up on the trike. Make sure you know what new costs, so you can make an offer that's realistic. If you're careful about the seller, you can make some good deals.
