Any maxarya riders out these?

I purchased my 1st CLWB recumbent this past August, a Canadian made Maxarya Ray-1, disk brakes, fenders etc, and am thrilled with it. I've never been so comfortable on a bike, and I lov e to ride it.

I'd be interested in any feedback or comments from others who ride this great bike.

Cheers from Saskatchewan Canada.

Maxarya Ray-1

Yep! Despite living in California, I got my bike, a Yellow Ray-1 from a Canadian dealer last year.

The bike is wonderful and I REALLY LOVE IT! I had a used BikeE from a friend for a couple of months and as I got my Maxarya, the poor BikeE was dumped. It obviously performs better and looks much nicer than the dumped BikeE!

I definetely recommend 20" front wheel. The bike originally arrived with 16" but soon I switched to 20" because I thought it could look more serious and also perform better. Now sure it does!

I've put almost 2000 miles on it and very happy with its performance. Oh! really comfortable too.

Putting all these quality and recumbent things aside, This bike made me lose 15 pounds! I'm sending my new images to the company to be posted on their new website. See me there!

:D

Hi!

I am shopping for my first recumbent.
I have taken short rides on the BikeE (all models), Cannondale Easy Rider , Sun EZ-1, and Rans Tailwind about 2 years ago. From those rides, I decided I really wanted a recumbent. For price reasons, I was considering a BikeE, but they went belly-up. My all-time favorite was the Cannondale Easy Rider, but it was too expensive. I've saved a little more money, and am now seriously shopping. But the market has changed somewhat...

I found the Maxarya (how do you pronounce that, anyway?!) website, and am very interested in the Ray-1 and/or Ray-1X. You are the first person I've contacted who owns one. I'd love to hear more about the bike, your shopping experiences with other bikes, any gripes you might have about the Ray-1 now that you've owned it a while, etc.

Hope to hear from you soon!

I just picked up a used Maxarya Ray 1 a couple of weeks ago. I think it is about 5 years old. It has pretty much all the available options: seat bag, bottle holder, kickstand, etc. I love the comfort of this bike but it needs a few upgrades to go faster: better tires, 20" front wheel, better chains, clipless pedals. I haven't been riding for a long while as the upright bike was just too uncomfortable for someone my size so I can't say if the bike is fast or not, given the condition of the motor. I had to stiffen up the spring quite a bit to avoid bottoming out. As I am tall (6'1") I can't reach the bars with the seat in anything but the most upright position. The handling certainly takes some getting used to and I have yet to try it on a high speed decent. I put on my clipless pedals after reading about "leg suck" and of course this helped with the sense of security, connection with the bike, and pedaling efficiency. With SPDs you can unclip in a heartbeat so I won't go without now. The bike seems well engineered and I put a bit of yellow tape on the top of the exposed tubes as they were getting scuffed up already after only a week or so. I plan to use this bike for long fitness rides and maybe touring so I will put the fenders back on. I may even get a fairing! I would recommend this bike to anyone as long as they don't mind a steeper learning curve to master the handling. From what I have read on recumbents, this one is a good compromise of comfort, speed, and safety.

This is quite a Zombie Thread; nine years asleep and the previous posters all long gone from BF.

Welcome to Recumbent Riding! Have never seen a Maxarya but they looked interesting on their website.
Might possibly be some other Maxarya owners at Bentrideronline.com if you need feedback or tips about your bike.

I do ride a Maxarya Ray-1 in good weather. Not only am I a member of BF, I also take strange pleasure in participating in zombie threads.

I have Maxarya Ray-1 for a few years now and I am Absolutely In Love With It! I have almost 10k miles on it. I used to have three other recumbents including BikeE. In my opinion Ray-1 isn't super fast but it has comfort, safety and style that makes it a good package overall.
