Getting back into it.
A little over 14 years ago, my father and I used to ride a lot on our recumbents. Me on my Ryan Vanguard (just posted a picture on the photo thread) and him on a Linear.
I had my Vanguard hanging from my garage ceiling for the past 14 years and just last weekend decided to pull it out of dry dock. I put new tires and tubes, lubed it up and took it for a spin. Nice to be back on it.
So over 14 years ago, we made some mods to help our riding. We added some ham radio antennas to the bike rack, and used headsets to talk. I made some headlights out of PVC couplers and halogen lamps. This is of course is long before LED headlights.
On my bike I also added an automotive air horn complete with an air pump. I added a remote switch to my handle bars. All of these items were powered by small gel batteries like the ones used in alarm panels.
After cleaning up up the bike, these items still work great. The air horn can be very handy! Here are some pics of my mods.
Glad to find these forums!
