I went to the shop today. looked at Bacchetta bikes and one Rans that was very similar to a Stada or Corsa.
I am leaning towards the Corsa right now...i didnt get to test drive it snowed last night..go figure. So I gotta go back sometime really soon. I need something soon my prosthesis is flaring up again and i have to go to the doctor tomorrow for it. |
just to update. i rode my friends Corsa tonight about 20 mi. i loved it. it was so comfortable. I think that is the way i am going to go for sure now. now can anyone tell me the advantages of having the 700 tire over the 650? his was a 700 but all my bike shop has is the 650 ones. Didnt know if it would be worth it to wait for a 700 version of the Corsa or not?

Depending on what fits in the frame/fork, there are a million times (exaggeration, but not by much) more tire choices in 700c versus 650c.
Info from Sheldon on wheel sizes: http://sheldonbrown.com/650b.html |
Also, you need a 55T chainring to normalize the gearing on a 650C. If that's important.

thats what i was thinking. the tire selection would be alot better with the 700c. Other than that is there really any difference? like riding wise?

I'm guessing with the 700 your COG would be a bit higher and thus the handling would be a bit twitchier.
At the Bacchetta forums (check it out) everyone seems very enthusiastic over the 700s. |

Bacchetta sells only through dealers, so you probably won't find anyone selling them online (unless it's a used bike). This will give you some idea: http://www.tandems-recumbents.com/bacchetta.html but note that the page hasn't been updated since 2009. Volae bikes are similar and they are sold online: http://hostelshoppe.com/cgi-bin/sear...ategory=104700 , so that's some more info.
FWIW: test ride a few before you make your decision. There's a few recumbent riders in Iowa- seek them out and give a couple different bikes a try. No one - and I mean no one - can put you on the "perfect" bike. You'll have to work that out for yourself. A test ride is strongly suggested in any case. |
