Anybody else experience this?

The fiberglass shell cracked longitudinally in half.

Ha. Explains why I was leaning sideways for many miles. Bike less than a year old. I weigh 160.

I had a seat frame failure on my V3 a year ago - RANS replaced the frame but it took several weeks until I was able to ride the bike again. Proving the wisdom of having a Backup 'Bent to ride in the interim.

A disadvantage of riding recumbents is that you can't just get a replacement seat from your LBS.

Yeah, for sure. Ended a tour 400 miles short of goal. As I'm determined to finish what I started, the cost of getting to the start again and back home has made that failure very expensive.

Fortunately, I still have my upright frankenbike. Better than nothing, barely, until I can settle my rear once again comfortably.

Update:

My TE is branded/supported by Easy Racer of Watsonville, CA. They answer the phone with no runaround. I have mailed them the saddle. $18 postage to be reimbursed. They will "repair" mine. "Guaranteed not to break." I will be surprised if they don't just drop a new saddle in the post. I've been surprised before. Cost of new saddle, $100.

With Easy Racers reputation I would not worry at all.....

ER did 'surprise' me. Repaired my saddle rather than sending a new one. They've gotten good at repairing cracked saddle pans, declaring it to be a SUN saddle. Not a word about my TE being the SUN version on the bike or in the manual. I also removed the erratic S idler and did not replace it with anything, per advice of others. Drive train running just fine. I do have a chain hanger that I may put on for appearance sake.

In TE's favor, I had the occasion to ride about 10 miles on rub board gravel recently. Handled great and that steel frame helped smooth out the bumps. The 1.5" Maxxis knobby front tire(not original)optimized control.

With the pan repaired and the S idler removed, I don't expect any more design problems. Every thing else is pretty much standard stuff. Will be taking it to the Big Bend area of Texas in January for 300 miles of cruising. Whoopie!
