Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

I've made a convert.

I've made a convert.

One of my coworkers here had been eyeing my recumbent and asking lots of questions, so I told him to come by some time and I'd let him ride it a bit around the parking lot. He did a little bit, got the hang of it, and even managed to do a couple fairly tight circles (SWB can be twitchy). I told him about the local shop in Tacoma that sells 'bents, and he showed up monday with a new to him, Barchetta Strada.

Come to the dark side....we have cookies!

I'm taking another friend with me saturday to Angle Lake Cyclery. I'm getting my front wheel rebuilt. I'm taking him because he keeps telling me how much he hates bikes, but he has gotten intrigued by my constant (and probably annoying) gushing over how much I like my bent. He's never considered a trike before, and since the thing he hates most is the idea of balancing, he is going to take a couple for a test ride while we're there.

He's a big guy (350+ lbs) and is looking for an extra way to get some exercise, and he'd eventually like to be car free.
