sun sport or tour easy
 

recently purchased a sun sport and love it. i cannot believe that the tour easy and grr is superior until I found this site and first learned about all the other existing recumbents. If money were no object will I find a measurably difference to the grr upgrade from my sport which I thought was to die for as far as riding comfort.

I have two (2) EasyRacers. I have a TourEasy and a GRR-Ti-Rush (Miss Ti-Lizzie). I have never owned a EZ Sport but I have a few miles under my seat on one. There really isn't any comparison between the EZ and the TE or the Ti-Rush. The Ti-Rush is the ultimate in "Bents". Some riders will disagree but this is my own opinion. I have been riding "Bents" for many years so I trust my judgement. On the EasyRacers' website the description of the TE and Ti-Rush is very true. The Ti-Rush is the ultimate in design and materials. This "Bent" sangs to you while you are riding. It is total enjoyment. The TE and the GRR are two (2) of the best "Bents" for touring plus they are not dogs for speed. Some riders do not care for the "old design" but all three (3) TE, GRR & Ti-Rush have been around for many, many years and have a very loyal following. You can't go wrong in upgrading to a GRR. GOOD LUCK!! :D

I too have an EZ Sport and think it's real comfortable. But before I buy another I'm going to check out personally as many models of bents as I can. I do suspect I'm not as fast on this bike as I might be on another, but who cares. I'm riding for enjoyment and I enjoy this bike.

The Sun lineup is sort of the Huffy of the recumbent world. I realize that's not a fair comparison in terms of quality, but it is in terms of performance. Suns are heavy, heavy, heavy! And tend to have lower-end componentry, too. But they're put together well, and while the parts are low-end, they're not junk. These bikes make great starter bents, because price is a big hurdle for that first one. But from what I've seen, a lot of riders will outgrow them in a year or two and want to move up to a more serious machine. A TourEasy is definitely a more serious machine, albiet from the same mold. The good thing is, there's always more newbies looking for entry-level bents; so selling it shouldn't be a problem when the time comes.

Moving onto to another machine doesn't imply that a bike is bad, either. Some fickle recumbenteurs will get a new bike every year or so, just for the change. Right Larry???

If you are looking at long wheelbase bikes, and comfort, rather than go-fast, is your priority, then you will be sorry if you don't seriously consider a RANS Stratus.

If you want a little more pzazz and still have the LWB comfort, take a look at the RANS V-2.

Hi, I am new here and have just started to consider a recumbent. I do a lot of self containded touring on a Cannondale touring bike. What do you all think about the best bike for touring without being too slow and heavy? Thanks!

I have a Sun EZ sport and I prefer to think of the Sun EZ sport as the Toyota Camry and the Tour Easy as the Lexus. Millions of people are perfectly happy driving Camrys while still realizing that a Lexus is a much nicer vehicle. My bike is affordable, enjoyable and reliable. When I save enough money, I'll upgrade to the Tour Easy. In the meantime, I absolutely love riding my EZ sport and I haven't ridden either my road bike or my mtn bike since I got my "bent".

:) I started with a Sun ez Sport, but ended up changing to a Tour Easy. There really is a huge difference. As comfortable as the Sport is, the Tour Easy is much more comfortable, at least it is for me. It is also a bit lighter, handles differently, and is faster. I liked the sport, but I REALLY love the Tour Easy. It also fits much better, and comes in about 7 different sizes, so the chance of a good fit is high.
