Price of bents
I bought my LWB bent 4 years ago and my trike a year ago. The price of my bent has gone up $800 above what I paid for it and my trike $100 already. That seems a bit much.
Im glad I got them when I did. I take exceptionl care of both the bike and trike, so they will last a very long time. I guess I got them when the getting was good.

Reading an article about 'bents indicating that demand for them has gone up over 80% in the last few years, and that trikes have been a large part of that demand, so it would only follow that the price would go up along with.

Since the jigs and fixtures should have been long ago paid off, with increased production, it would seem that prices should have gone down or at least remained the same.

They are still not sold In numbers for factory mass production cost savings..

For sale at my LBS because the caddliac of the LWB bents I found at a real good price.
Easy Racer Tour Easy LE
2 months ago got me a slightly used, (still had original rubber, like new),,talking 50 miles tops on the bike.
paid $1,000 cash of course,,, new it would have cost $2,000. The LE model Is no longer produced due to
unexpected higher build cost.
The California Tour Easy base model starts at $2,500.

Trying to get hold of used recumbent tadpole trikes is not easy. Las Vegas is not any-kind-of-bike-friendly town

Oddly, the cost of my two trikes was roughly the same. My first was a Trice QNT purchased directly from Inspired Cycle Engineering. My second, received just last month, is a Sprint 26 with slightly tweaked gearing. That too was purchased directly from ICE. They are the same 'middle child' of ICE's trikes between the higher, more upright touring and the low, laid back speed demon.
When I started looking into the prices of ICE's updated trikes, I was quite surprised to see the prices hadn't changed much between 2006 and 2012, particularly with the redesign of their models. I think it was the only reason my husband agreed to replace my beloved Trice. Well, that and the fact that if I had a machine with the derailleur high enough that it wouldn't get banged around on chunks of ice and ruts, I'd be able to take the dog for runs even in the winter.
