She said those magic words....
So my wife has been on a pretty severe (for lack of a better word) medically supervised diet, losing lots of wieght, and started exercising again at the gym (swimming). We were talking about random things yesterday, and I don't even know how it came up, but at one point, she said 'if I were to get another bike, I think I'd want a recumbent trike.' :D
So now...I gotta get her down to Angle Lake Cyclery and let her drive one around the parking lot. If she has half as much fun as I did (I was just spinning around the lot while the owner was re-building my front tire), she'll be hooked. |
I've got a Rans Tailwind for sale, but I'm nowhere near you.

Grab your wallet. If she rides a trike you will be buying one for her. Been there done that.
BTW over the years we have bought my wife at least 3 DF bikes. She only rode them a little before they got hung up in the garage, and then sold on a garage sale. BUT-------------with the trike she has continued to ride it and loves it!!!! |

I don't know, though, we're already thinking we are getting some kayaks for the lakes and the Sound this summer, so a trike might be a bit much to hope for this year. |

Perhaps your wife would be persuaded by the logic that she will want to building riding speed and distance very gradually so the sooner she begins the better. |
The thing my wife likes about her 'Delta' is the ease of getting on and off, she could never manage a Tadpole

The one exception to the rule about Deltas being easier to get in and out of than a tadpole is probably the Terra Trike Rover that I got for my wife. Just before her 65th birthday she showed interest in a trike, and we got her a very lightly used Rover with an internally geared 8 speed hub. It is a little bit heavy, but a VERY NICE trike for an older person to start out on, and sits high enough for her to get in and out without too much effort. She really loves that trike and rides it several times a week around the neighborhood. We had a nice discussion last night about 'spinning' and how fast she should be cranking the bike...
