Can I have a cookie, PLEASE!
After 25 years of suffering with a soar neck and numb hands, I decided it was time to make the smart decision. I bought a used Sun EZ Sport AX today. Found it on Craig's List for $440. Thought it was a good deal even if I had to work on it before it could be taken for a ride. I was waiting outside the sellers apartment building for him to bring the bike down. Low and behold he rides around the corner on the bike. After a short test ride and giving up the cash, I took the bike home, cleaned and lubed it and went for a 12 mile shake down.
What a fantastic ride. That long wheel base aluminum frame really rides smooth. Averaged 13 mph with a high of 17.5 mph. About on par with my Trek Crossrip. Needless to say, I am very happy with the new addition to my stable. The picture is the Sport in front of Publix at my turn around point. As soon as I get some bags, new tires and a kick stand for her, she'll be my new commuter.
My next bike will be another LWB with USS.

You see??? This! THIS is why I gain weight in the off-season! Ya notice, no matter how many cookies we eat, the tray is still full??? I have GOT to keep away from the cookies!

Yeah OP I hear ya, those Sun made bents are pretty nice....
I got a Sun Made Tour Easy LE model that was like new, a garage queen,,
She's Happy now cause I take her out often XD

Wilbur, at this time I'm leaning towards the Slipstream. I would like to test ride one if I could find one somewhere locally. I test rode an EZ3 trike with the USS and really liked it but would like to ride a two wheeler before laying out the cash for a new bike. How long have you had your Slipstream? How do you like it?

Well, I'm a daily commuter, so I have a lot of miles (10,000+ on the Vanguard before I sold it and then 20,000+ on the Slipstream so far), but I can't tell you what touring at 75-100 miles a day for weeks or a month is like. I like the Slipstream fine at 25+ miles a day round trip, although I probably miss some aspects of the Vanguard, but there were a couple things I wanted on the Slipstream so I made the change. Comparatively, probably a Vanguard with a front disc fork and a RANS seat upgrade would come really close to being an even match for the Slipstream, missing only the higher bottom bracket and more-forward weight distribution of the Slipstream. How do I like the Slipstream? I like it a lot, it's exactly what I wanted for a year-round commuter, more or less indestructible while also quite comfortable = very reliable and very easy to fine tune to my particular comforts in terms of seat and steering adjustments.
If you find you are ready to make a change, my advice is buy a used one as you'll save a boatload of $$$ and still have the same bike (with patient and diligent searching probably $800+ for a nice Vanguard, $1300 or less for a Slipstream that's 3-4 years old). Have a look at some of the below for-sale sites when you're in the mood to change (there are many more smaller for-sites, but I've found almost everyone with a bent for sale will post in at least one of the four sites below):
