Thanks for flag info. I ordered one as well. I agree with doing everything to be seen. Hard to beat amazon prices and customer service,

Ric, I'm becoming more serious about the Ride Virginia tour if you're still interest. It just seems like the perfect tour for me. I plan to register next month.

Later Bob

Bob, I don't have enough posts to send PM's yet, so wanted let you know it is looking like I won't make the Bike Virginia tour this year. I hope you can still make it and enjoy.

My new to me EZ Sport AX.
It needs a kickstand.
Who has a good one?

Thanks!

I should have looked around and found this forum before I bought my Trike. Now to the issue. I have a Sun EZ3 SX that I bought used, the first owner bought it for his father and the gentleman never rode it, so after 2 years and the fathers death the son sold it to me with only approx 30 miles on it. It seems to run very nice and quiet. My wife who rides with me on her bike noticed that the left rear wheel had a wobble. I had the rim trued up and that should have done it. The wobble is still there. Could this be a bent axel? I am a large person, 6'5" 300+ and have had both hips replaced, I wanted something to ride that my compromised balance would not have an effect on. I haven't tried to disassemble yet to see. Mostly wondered if this was a common problem.:recum:

Broken Rear Axle?

Your problem might be a broken rear axle. That will be the exact symptoms. Because it has a quick release in the rear, it is possible to have a broken axle and not have the axle separate - that is until you remove it. Take off the rear wheel and then undo the end of the quick release. Once you slide it out, the axle will come out in 2 pieces and all of the bearings may come with it. Do it over a sheet of newspaper so you can catch any that come out. Replacing the axle is easy if you have a cassette removal tool and cassette holder or chain whip. For examples see: Park FR-7C Falcon Cassette/FW Remover and Summit Economy Chain Whip Just take the broken axle to a bike shop and buy a replacement. If this is too complicated for you, take the rear wheel to the shop and ask them to check for a broken axle.

Hi all, just bought a used EZ-Sport last weekend and am enjoying it! So far I've added a rack (topeak), lights and fenders. I live in the (rainy) pacific nw, and will be commuting to work all winter (it's not very far). Yesterday it rained while I was at work and I notice the bottom seat soaks up some water. So, my question is does anyone know of an inexpensive / small / light rain cover I can toss over the seat while I'm at work?

BlazingPedals 10-31-14 12:43 PM

If you axle is messed up, just take it to the shop. Wheels are one of those things that are just better to have done by someone who knows what they're doing.

Ok, I think I found something that might work, For the money I can't go too wrong, I'll let you all know how it works.

On my V-Rex, I always used a size large shower cap. If the foam gets wet, remove it and stand it up (don't lay it down) on a newspaper. The water will drain down to the lowest point, and from there you can squeeze it out to help it dry better.

So a shower cap fits eh? That would be easy, thanks for the info!

It's a perfect fit for my V-Rex. I'm not sure how well it fits a Sun seat, but they're close in size so for about $2.50 it's worth a try.

Weber grille cover looks huge. Take at look at trash can liners at the grocery store to see what sizes are available and compatible with your cushion size

Well the Sun seat must be quite a bit larger than the V-Rex. I got an XL shower cap, wasn't close to fitting. Alas, back the the smokey joe weber cover...

So the weber / smokyjoe cover worked. It came with a cord / tie but I changed that out for shock cord for easy on / off. It is a bit large, but not so much so that it's silly. :)

Now on to my next quest. I'd really like to find a backpack that would securely mount on the seat back frame. I'd leave it mounted most of the time, but if needed, I'd like to pull it off and use it as a backpack. Anyone seen anything that might work in that application? I've seen the arkel seat bag, and if I can't find something that will double as a backpack I'll go that route, but it'd be nice...

One other thing, does anyone know of a sprocket chain guard that will fit on a Sun EZ-Sport?

Thanks all,
Doug

BlazingPedals 11-13-14 06:39 PM

A hip pack will strap across the seatback. I've done that on my V-Rex. The downside: the buckle usually ends up between your shoulder blades.

Sun EZ-1 rider in France, I believe. Nice video.

Anyone put disc brakes on a EZ Sport?

trestlehed 12-13-14 12:39 PM

Anyone put disc brakes on a EZ Sport?
No, but It's probably doable. Especially with this conversion kit for the rear:

(Above URL updated on 4/8/2017)

Irishred 04-06-17 08:00 AM

Where are some on line places to get a rear rack for the EZ Sport please?
Thanks!

VegasTriker 04-06-17 06:27 PM

Switching to a disc brake in the rear is probably doable but expensive. You need a rear wheel with the disc and that means buying a new rear wheel or rebuilding the old one with a new hub. I bought an adapter like this New Adjustable Bicycle Bike Disc Brake Bracket Frame Adaptor Mounting Holder | eBay recently. I didn't want it for brakes but to use part of the adapter elsewhere. You can see from the pictures how it is used on a bike.
