Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

Why Do You Tour?

Okay, here's the thing...

I trying to put together a new wesite about 'bent touring.

So why do you guys tour?

Don't worry. I won't be using these testimonials on the webpage. I'm just trying to get an idea of the mind set behind why people tour.

For me, it's the freedom...the open adventure...a constant movie running in my head...

What about you? What desires or wishes are fulfilled when you're out there instead of being couped up in a cubical all day?

I do organized tours, but not self-contained. It's good to get out and ride new roads, see new sights, and meet people who like doing the same.

I have three friends that I've been bent touring with for the last 14 years. We take 7-9 days/385-750 miles and just go, self contained. We've covered 14 states and part of Canada over the years. Each day is a new adventure and the experiences are many. All your senses come alive.

I ride tours because they are fun and I can see the country. Better than driving a car. I am proud to say I will never danger the lives of other bicycle riders when I ride my recumbent on a tour.

Some recumbent riders pretend that they race when they ride their recumbent on a tour. Those people are dangerous and should be ticketed, thrown in jail, fined and have their bicycles and privileges to ride a bicycle taken away. Speeding on a road with families and children touring the same roads is dangerous and unlawful.

Touring is for smelling the roses. Some people will never learn the joys of slow riding a recumbent.

I didn't know that bicycle laws were different in battle creek from the rest of michigan. Hey, I'm always under the posted speed limit when I ride.
