I would like to make you aware of this up coming event:

The “Return to Freedom” rally, hosted by Easy Racers, will be on July 26-27th this year. We would like to see as many different recumbents as possible as well as our own Easy Racers Series. The event will feature a meet and greet at the Easy Racers factory, a tour of the factory, and a Grand Reopening of the Easy Racers Museum. Two rides are scheduled, a short twilight ride on Saturday and Sundays Freedom ride, with lunch catered on beautiful Pacific Grove Beach at the halfway point.

We are currently working on camping and hotel options as well as many more details, but for now, mark those dates in your calendar!

A little more information would be helpful (city/state, for instance). I assume, with a little googling, that this is in Pacific Grove, CA?

Actually, Freedom is just north of Watsonville, if in fact that's where they're holding the rally. But yes that's the general neighborhood. I think they're still working on the details, as nothing more has been posted on Bentrider either.

Events

This year will be a two day event with the actual ride being on the second day. On the first day we will have a garage sale and swap meet. Anyone that signs up for the event is encouraged to bring their old stuff to sell to other "Freedom" riders. We will also be participating by trying to clear out some of our stuff. Over the next few weeks we will post some pictures of our stuff to see if we can pique some interest.

What will be the route from Freedom to PG on the Sunday ride? I need to plan which bike to bring based on the amount of climbing. If we're taking the coastal route, climbing won't be a problem, but if you have some inland back route planned, that's different.

By the way, for those interested in coming by bike and doing tent camping, Sunset State Beach has a hike/bike campsite that does not require reservation, and the policy is no bike turned away (supposedly). That only applies if you arrive without a motor vehicle, just by bike and/or feet. Also, there's a hike/bike campsite in Monterey, which is adjacent to Pacific Grove. That may interest someone who wants to ride with the group to PG and not return that day but rather camp overnight in Monterey. It shows the Google Maps suggested route from Sunset State Beach to Easy Racers, then from Easy Racers to Pacific Grove, with time intervals and turn-by-turn directions. By clicking on the little man that appears when you hover the mouse pointer on any segment of the route directions, a street view will also open with the map. I think the travel times for bicycles is based on an average 10 mph speed.

Where can people leave their motor vehicles on Sunday for the duration of the ride, without worrying that they'll be vandalized or stolen?

Would non-recumbent bikes be welcome to do the ride and pay their registration fee?

I'm thinking about organizing a bike-camping ride that would combine with Return To Freedom and posting it as a "Meetup" on this bike-touring-and-camping group where I'm a member: https://www.meetup.com/norcal-biketouring/. Most of those members don't have recumbents, if any do at all other than me. The ride would start in Santa Cruz in early afternoon on Saturday, make its way to a state park campsite near Freedom/Watsonville for an overnight campout, then ride to Easy Racers for the Sunday ride, then either riding back to Santa Cruz on Sunday or camping overnight again and riding back on Monday or taking the bus (if the bike fits the bus rack) from Monterey to Santa Cruz, all yet to be decided.

Do I have your ok to post such an invitation as a Meetup?

that is a little far for me to go I don't think I could get there on bike or car but it sounds like it sure would be fun though.
