Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

wHERE TO GO?

My friend with Huntingtons disease has a Recumbent. I tried it & liked it. I want to get one.
Can anyon help me learn more about Recumbent 3 wheel bike's. I use to be a biker but I have become sick & I am trying to get back into riding. I need the 3 wheels for stability. They are quite expensive with various types to pick from. I would sure appreicate some advice & help. My husband wants me to get a light weight one with of course gears to help me get up & down hills. I would like to get a soft seat. I looked on the web but continue to pull up stationary exercise bikes & weird low riders. Can anyone lead me to good used or discounted places or any help at all about the details. Thanx so much!!
Truly, DIane

Your best bet is to hang out here and at www.bentrideronline.com and keep checking out what's for sale that used that would fit your needs. Also check out the hostel shoppe's used bike listing. You can find some decent deals there. If you can't find anything, my recommendation is to pick up a catrike pocket. It's $1499 and has amazing value for the money. I'm looking at a pocket for the wife right now.

In any case, I wish you luck with your search and wish you health.

It may be better to check at bentrider online. I urge everyone here to start posting at bentrider online, seeing as spuds mcdoogle has been banned there

Diane,

What kind of biker were/are you? If you want pure recreation the Sun trikes are inexpensive. You want speed....there's a manufacturer out there for ya. As someone here posted, go to www.bentrideronline.com and go the Buyer's Guide which you'll see as a selection at the top of the site. Click on that. Then go to the Trikes buyer's guide. It hasn't been updated since 2002, but the manufacturer's are pretty much the same as are their kind of trikes. You can get a great idea of the range, type and price. When you see something that looks attractive, go to the manufacturer's website.

Have fun. I just bought a Hase Kett for my wife because Kett's can be "tandemed" together or ridden as separate trikes. Maybe your hub wants one too <g>

If you need any additiional help feel free to email me at JKeenan0407 AT Yahoo DOT com

Cheers,

Slo Joe

P.S. I know this guy, Larry Varney, who ALWAYS has a trike for sale
