It's been a long journey
Just over two years ago I bought my wife a Catrike Road so that she could safely get some exercise with her health issues. That one Catrike soon turned into two because I liked hers so much I 'stole' it. We quickly realized that lower gear inches were going to be needed, so I installed a SRAM DD3 setup for testing and soon followed with the same setup for her bike. Both are now 81 speed and can climb the bedroom wall with a spin out in top gear in the top 30's for me.
After spending a good deal of time working out an issue we had with the wife's bike I am proud to say that we spent the last week putting in her first 15 miles. I look forward to putting in many more miles together on these lovely machines. |
Fantastic!

I think I have her hooked now.....tee hee hee!
We have been going to a local park to get some riding in her legs often enough that we were both feeling a little bored with it. We loaded up yesterday and hit the Eastside Beltline Trail here in Atlanta. It was really packed out with the weather this nice and I was really glad to hear her say that the pace was a bit too slow. We are going to head back out there tomorrow and see what it's like mid day. |
Congratulations. I am working in reverse, still trying to convince my wife to get a trike. She sas they look fun and comfy one day.. and the next she's not interested. Her 7 speed hot pink beach cruiser is apparently the ultimate bike for her, much to my chagrin.

My main interest was getting her involved in cycling in any form at any level. The biggest reason I chose trikes was due to her vertigo, so she couldn't fall over. It poses it's own issues as trikes are much harder to carry around. She is very reluctant to ride on the road with ANY cars, even in a park, due to the height. It is an amazing activity to be able to participate in together.
