Chain recomendations for Rans Stratus Le
I have a Rans Stratus Le which came with a KMC chain and am looking at replacing it. I dont know which model of chain came with it and noticed there are several different models from KMC. Have not had any problems with this chain. Any recomendations? Thanks

There are fans of KMC, SRAM, and Shimano, so take your pick. The model of chain you get depends on how many speeds in your cassette -- count 'em up and make sure the chain you want is rated for that.

+1 to 'at least 2' standard chains.
RANS specs 119" or 127" chains, depending on what size your frame is. https://ransbikes.com/library/chainlength.html
There are online sources for chain by the foot: https://www.t-cycle.com/ or Recumbent Bikes | Recumbent Trikes | Recumbent Tandems - Hostel Shoppe - two examples

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

The Rans website lists SRAM X9 as the chain that comes on the bike. The SRAM PC951 chain has 114 links and costs $18 including shipping on ebay. You get 24 links per foot on a chain so this works out to be about 4.8 feet. Your bike, like my trike, takes more than 2 chains but you can save the extra links for the next time you replace the chain. You can get the KMC X9.93 chain for $14 including shipping also on ebay. So it would cost $42 for more than enough to do the job. I bought the 10 speed version of this chain as the next replacement for the chain on my CT700. Either chain will give you good service. You can buy a single longer chain at the recumbent specific bike shops but the cost is almost double for the same brand chain. It is nice to have only one removable link but having more than one isn't a problem. One tool I would recommend is a missing link opener. It makes removing the removable link a 30 second job instead of a messy struggle. I wish I had bought mine a lot sooner. Costs about $7 online.

I have a 2008 LE. At 8000 miles I replaced the chain with a new KMC. I upgraded the RD to a Sram X7 and along with the KMC chain, the shifts are flawless. The shifts are quick and almost always noiseless.

I bought three regular 9 spd KMC DF bike chains.., put them together for my Tour Easy,, didn't save anything or spend extra.
No shipping and no waiting,,..
But the convenience of picking them up locally was worth the assembly time and that was minimal..
