If I may make a humble suggestion;I'd start it earlier, then run from Tenley to the CCT,run that to Big Planet in Bethesda, and then get everyone back to Adams Morgan in time for cheap beers at Asylum. Either that,or run it off Wisc through some of the hilly sideroads, swinging back to Wisc to stop at a couple bars.

Well, I can't really start it any earlier unless there is a giant public outcry to do so. Also, I like keeping it a simple straight line. However, I wouldn't object to looping through some side streets between Big Planet DC and Big Monkey since they are in reality two or three blocks apart. Oh, and I was actually planning on ending at Lucky Bar to watch the DC United vs. Colorado Rapids game. But I ain't gonna stop anyone from going to Asylum. I guess the best way to handle this is to take a concensus of whoever shows up on Saturday, it might just be me and you, Dyna.

P.S. It occurs to me that the "Pillage" title might be a misnomer in this case. I would consider it more of a "Plunder" than a "Pillage", perhaps even a "Raid".

dynaryder 05-04-06 11:31 AM

Well, polo was a wash. Me,Spud, and RPC. RPC went home to do laun-dread while Spud and I wound up hanging at Booger's for awhile before escorting Chimbly home from Union Station.

I'm trying to decide what was the funniest image from last night:
1) Tink as an upstanding member of society(dude, you're just a haircut away from being a sariman :p )
2) Chimbly as a commuter(that wasn't safe...but it was hawt! :D )
3) transit cops on Segways(I am so not starting trouble down at Union Station  )

chimblysweep 05-04-06 11:51 AM

hey, dyna, maybe you just didn't get the memo that the new cool look is business suit, heels, and clips and straps?

dynaryder 05-04-06 12:03 PM

So you'll be wearing that kit on the next pillage? :D

Move over Under Armour! Sounds like we have a new DC Pirate uniform.

chimblysweep 05-04-06 12:33 PM

Re: polo: What is the min number for the polo to have a green light?

re:3) TRANSIT cops? I though Metro barred riding but allows Segways in stations. Where are the transit cops riding Segways?

chimblysweep 05-05-06 06:16 AM

so, again i ask, o pirates...
I'm gonna rent a car to go to jumpinships.
it's in columbus on 5/13
the schedule goes like this:
5/12: leave ~6pm . 8 hour drive.
5/13: depart after race. (or spend another night?) 8 hour drive.

i'm a fantastic through-the-night driver but would appreciate a buddy or two. if nobody else wants to go, i'll prolly skip it.

Minimum of 6 for polo(3 on a side).

The Segway troopers were inside, right at the gates. In fact,I'm sure that the one came through the door that led down to the train platform.

Imma try an make CM tonight. If I slick out a couple min early I should be able to make it. Any Cinco de Mayo(sp?) activities planned for afterwards?

Britpac 05-05-06 12:57 PM

Also going to try to make CM tonight, need to get new lock nuts, cracked mine on both sides of my rear hub and its all being held together with duck tape, hmmm! Maybe this will teach me not to overtighten but I doubt it. Would like to do something cinco de mayoish, but its only going to be a drink or two, leaving for a 2 day tournament in Baltimore, tomorrow at 9:30am.

i forgot to mention last night that a good sturdy chain tensioner can give you one less thing to worry about when tightening your track nuts. i'd never tell you to leave them looser, but it might prevent the need for excessive overtightening. and, of course, making sure the locknuts themselves are tightly screwed on is never a bad idea.

just in case you don't find any locally, here's the part you need:

http://harriscyclery.net/page.cfm?Pa...ils&sku=HU1032

yeah, $4.95 plus shipping for a pair is highway robbery, but i haven't ever seen them cheaper. cheers.

chimblysweep 05-05-06 01:16 PM

i officially and totally quit city bikes forever last night. they slashed the employee discount to the point where the shop would make a profit on employee purchases. that's just absurd.

anyway.

tonight. water bottle full of margarita. i don't know if i'll make CM. but i will have fun.

ooooooooooh - UNIIITEEEEEEEEEED... UNITED! UNITED! VAMOS UNIIIIIITEEEEEEED!!!!!!

Didnt realise there were other United fans here. Im a member of both Barra Brava and screaming Eagles. I dont post over here, but after seeing that thought id drop in and say hey. Anytime anyone here wants to catch a United match ( home or away , though im at RFK for EVERY home match) lemme know. Im usually at one of the "soccer friendly" pubs in the area dowing a few brews while taking in the match. ( noooo im not known for driking at all! lol! )

Too bad United looked crap on Saturday.

I missed the game on Saturday... it didn't sound good.

Cool that there are other United fans here. I have a season ticket on the quiet side for home games. For away games, I'll usually head to Lucky Bar since it's close to home.

To make this bike-related, sometimes I ride to RFK (on my single speed, no less...) to see DCU. :)

spud 05-08-06 11:26 AM

Team Margarita is pillaging the Nationals vs Orioles game on the 19th.
Bring hidden Beer/Margaritas/Sparks and 12 bucks for tickets.

Team United planning any soccer plunders?

chimblysweep 05-08-06 11:31 AM

cinco de mayo.

part of the may critical mass set.

spud 05-08-06 11:32 AM

speaking of margaritas when is the second annual TriState Margarita Relay?

chimblysweep 05-08-06 11:38 AM

my thoughts...
(i'm only here for like 2 1/2 more weeks.)
- I'd like to do a Recruitment Ride. the idea: everyone bring a fist full of flyers, your design, that recruits pirates for the margarita relay. we ride, drink, and leave flyers on every bike we see.
- then, Margarita Relay like a few days later.
i.e. Recruitment Ride 5/9 and Margarita Relay 5/11 or something like that??
