Do we have a plan of attack for Mayhem weekend or is it every pirate for itself?

P.S. Oh man, my signiture block is getting cut off. Weak, Bikeforums, weak.

Noah_Deuce 05-22-06 11:46 AM

What is this "Mayhem" you speak of?

And big props to Baldy for making it 100 miles on a pogostick.

BoogerBike 05-22-06 07:28 PM

So before Chimbls last stand, or whatever she calls it I am thinking about going to do laps at Hains. Who's in? A few laps. Groovy times?

Mayhem weekend is the collective name given to the three races that will take place this weekend. Baltimore on Saturday, DC on Sunday, and Richmond on Monday. This is all I know about it, and I'm not even sure it that is entirely right. Hopefully some of the other pirates know more than that. I don't see that much mention of it on the Alleycats thread and DCBCA.org doesn't go into details.

chimblysweep 05-23-06 07:46 AM

the triple crown last occurred in 2004. in 2005 John Dinn pulled together a last-minute mayhem, but the baltimore and richmond races didn't go down. the idea is sat in baltimore, sun in dc, mon in richmond races.

registration info is up for the Baltimore race on Sat. i haven't really been keeping track, seeing as how i'll be gone by then.

Sunday's race in dc is 3pm at malcom x park.

wolverine_95 05-23-06 09:07 AM

Oh right, I do remember seeing the flyer for GhettoBlaster whatchumacallit, now. I didn't put it together at the time that that was going to be this weekend. I guess the absense of flyers for the DC and Richmond races means there aren't going to be any.

baldylocks 05-23-06 09:27 AM

Hey I gotta' go to Olney, MD on thursday and while I could do the train/bus thing...well yo know the rest. Anybody got any route suggestions? Pogostick friendly, of course.

in maryland you gotta put a brake on that thing or you're gonna get pulled over by a segway cop. and no, i have nothing useful to add.

BoogerBike 05-23-06 09:40 AM

I almost hit a segway cop in dc last weekend. He looked at me then told someone driving by in their car, "Hang that thing up. Your in the city"

In other news I told the big fat woman in her H3 that she could go f(ck her self after she almost hit me today. She the got stuck at the next light. I yelled some more. She left and got stuck at a light. I yelled some more. She gave me the finger. I almost hit her with my ULock. I love the city.

Noah_Deuce 05-23-06 12:35 PM

Segway cops? That's worse than NY's f***in' scooter cops. Do they get a tax write-off for pocket protectors? Group specials on tailoring for nipple-high pants? Will the nerdification of our police force never end?!

carleton 05-23-06 01:55 PM

1) Is the triple crown this weekend? (May 27, 28, 29)?
2) If so, where can I get info about the Baltimore and DC legs?

and um...how does one become a pirate?

per chimbly's post:

Sunday's race in dc is 3pm at malcom x park.

wish i could make it, but i'll be in philly this weekend. i don't know much about the baltimore leg, but there's a cryptic note about it on the www.demoncats.com calendar. basically an email address. is it me or are these things getting more and more like raves? meet me under the key bridge at dusk on the summer solstice for more info. don't bring anybody!

an excellent start would be to come out to the pharmacy bar in adams morgan tomorrow night at 8pm to wish chimbly a fond "see you when the pirates make it back to chicago."

wolverine_95 05-23-06 07:54 PM

Also, this was posted in the Alleycats thread.

Dirty, how did you find out about the race on Sunday? I didn't see any details anywhere.

That sounds like a proposal for a cross-country fixie tour. We're like the Big Fix http://www.fixhistio.org/), but with pillaging and no cute sick kids.
...
I'd still ride to Chicago for Chimbly.

I always hope that the jerks that almost hit me get stuck at a nearby light, but I never get that lucky.

chimblysweep 05-24-06 06:22 AM

yup, tonight, drunkfest. come see what my subconscious has been hiding, to be revealed only after about 1/2 bottle of bourbon. 8pm, Pharmacy. Haters not welcome, except Hater dave, who really isn't a hater anyway.

gil - you coming? i have a book of yours.

ALSO. i seem to have been unable to finish the alcohol stock in my fridge. if you're around at 730 or so and want to help save some alcohol from the most shameful fate known to man, c'mon over. the stash includes:
1 steel reserve (I'm looking your way, spud.)
5 schlitz cans
1/3 of a box of "good" white wine that i tried really, really hard to finish last night, but clearly didn't realize the vast quantities still held within.

dirtyphotons 05-24-06 09:12 AM

wolverine, alls i know about the race is what i plagiarized from chimbly's post. there's a thread about the series here

Pirate Pillage to the Witching Hour

dynaryder 05-24-06 12:48 PM

I'll be there tonight, but any drinking will be minimal. Sat was enough for awhile. Too much cheap azz rum at my boss's party;you all missed a good one.

Chimbles, keep it,that book was for you.

Won't be making the race on Sun. Gotta do the biker thing for Rolling Thunder. Also, word of warning;be careful around downtown. Gonna be alot of wannabe bikers who don't know how to ride and are lost running around. Stay off the parade routes.

Poop,my Dyna can still dust your Bandit. Deal wit dat. :p

MDRawk 05-24-06 11:45 PM

HEY guys, look over here!

wolverine_95 05-25-06 06:15 AM

Oh serendipity, if in fact that is your correct spelling. Who would have thought that we would have run into what are most likely DC's only tall bike fabricators while wishing Chimbly a fond farewell. Dirty, I expect to see the Main-Mast Special rolling out of the shop as soon as possible.

chimblysweep 05-25-06 06:47 AM

so, did last night really happen?
drinking randomly at 27th & Q? tall bikes? falafel breath? shots? newspaper reporters?

that was epic.
thanks for the drinks, thanks LBK for the *awesome* picture, thanks to everyone who came out, and thanks in advance for reading the Sunday Source.
i love you all.
i'll see you on the 12th of june.

ps - seems it was Red DiMartini who posted to craigslist. mystery solved.

baldylocks 05-25-06 08:02 AM

Bon Voyage Chimbley! Me and PNC will see ya in a couple weeks.
