In on CM

timeout: that frame is a collectable Sachs rarity, if you ask me.
Why? It's a Cinelli BB shell. This is from before RS had his own lugs made. And the fork crown RS was something Sachs abandoned in favor of his logo in the early 80's. Totally old school. |
1. CM CM CM! Fun, laughs, good times.
Dirty, you'll finally get to see the new wheel. 2. That Sachs is awesome. Hope you got it! |
Outbid. Ah well.
Weather is supposed to be fantastic for CM tonight, so everyone should come out! |

no.
6pm dupont circle. see ya there. |
I packed my pirate shirt 'specially for tonight!
|
what are we doing afterwards? any grand ridie plans.
|
+1 to Peter: Marriage is trouble. YMMV of course.
As for afterward: Party at Chelsea's. If the climb up Connecticut isn't enough for you after CM, you obviously need to ride laps at Hains on Sunday. Oh, and word to the wise: Those portable barriers are back on Pennsylvania in front of the White House; might be good to try to avoid 'em tonight. |
I'll be at CM tonight
please be friendly to the tall kid on the gray bike |
I'm riding my first CM tonight, so come say hi , i'm on the flamin' 96 cannondale [pix]
no costume planned but I want to meet some of you pirates -- Craig |
|
good times
critical mass tonight was fun. i'll be sure to do it again next month... or apparently every week according to the nice police officer....
|
yeah, skid contests every Fri night at the white house :P
|
Photon: the hot bike cop is on the 5th picture, can you zoom in ?
|
Deuce, we're so glad that you are ok, looking back to see you go down in front of that bus is still a haunting image.
|
whoa, what happened to deuce?
|
Somebody else in the pack cut him off and he fell in front of the bus on L street. So, I'm sure I'll be yelled at for this but, WTF was up with last night? Are we advocating, or just ****ing with traffic? CM seemed really counter procuctive last night. It just seemed aggressive as hell, and IMO that doesn't help us at all.
|
i think cm has always been a lot more high minded in theory than in practice.
glad you're ok deuce. see you guys tomorrow. |
Thanks guys - I'm ok. The dude who ****ing poking along way at the back as we were rolling east on L thought it would be a good idea to be a try to race the tallbike and cut me off. Grabbed my front brake and pushed back on the pedals, couldn't avoid tagging his rear wheel. Goddamn people who don't know to ride. Then he gave me attitude when I told to watch out for other people (I was even polite!). ****er.
No injuries, just pissed at him; he and his other blockhead buddy took off before we hit Adams Morgan. Regardless, CM was fun. I always like spinning with you all. Big welcome to Osman (sorry if I'm mis-spelling!): No probation for you, what with putting up with the cop and all. See you all at Hains and the movie tomorrow. Yarrr! |

last night was a blast at CM, i think three years of frustrations with cars in DC boiled out , i was giddy with the satisfaction of watching how helpless drivers were with the stream of bikes ... did the police nab one of us on pennsylvania or was that just a rumor?
dirtyphotons: nice to meet you and thanks for introducing yourself. I'm attaching photos of my unknown steel fuji that I want to turn into a fixed gear. I say it's a fuji because of the stamping on the top of the fork, otherwise it's been (badly) powdercoated. I bought the frameset+drivetrain from the doorman of my building in midtown who was an ex-courier for $20 -- hey, it's not pretty, but I've had some very smooth satisfying rides with it before i built my current alum rig. seeing how much fun everyone was having on fixed last night has got me a hankering to convert this bike and join in. First I'm wondering if this frame is suitable for conversion. I'm not good with wheels or hub adjustment , but I got the dough , tools, and time if someone could help me out (i live on T and 18th) I will make it worth the while http://static.flickr.com/78/184858670_8278428182.jpg http://static.flickr.com/68/184858629_2e0d092ee0.jpg More photos from my world: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lebowitz/ CM rules , i will be there next time for sure. thanks chelsea for the fun party and goodbye! Craig :D |
