A short history of the Philly-Toronto rivalry
Not really a rivalry, but one day one of my fellow Philly riders noticed that the Toronto thread had 20,000+ posts while we had a piddly few hundred. And so the talk turned from actually discussing fixed gear bicycling to Philly yet again obsessing about the "other city" that's better than us at something (NY, you hearing this?). So we decided that we would kick up our post frequency, while viciously watering down the content i.e., "We'll never get as many posts as Toronto like this blah blah..."
And then, so Toronto folks find out and start posting on our Philly thread trying to help out. By help out I mean make fun of us. It's all in good fun, and I hereby declare the Toronto crew Officially Awesome. Come on down to Philly anytime you like folks, there's plenty of pretzels for all.

Even our cheapest crappy beer is better than the plonk they pass off as beer. At CMWC the volume was there...just not the quality.
We can ride brakeless without having to worry about health insurance.
I'll see your cheesesteak and raise you a falafel, roti and Burrito Boyz.
And we don't have a leader who is a redneck, right wing wacko....oh wait...we do. As you were.

Philly should take down Boston first for practice. We'll be cheering you on.
Following that, I think DC is next in line, but beware. Those Pirates play dirty!

Back to your regular programming (and I'm feeling very safe at the moment) -- (the TO boys will know what that means).

my memories of philly:
having a tire thrown at my friend and i because we wandered across the wrong street at 3am.
getting caught w my pants down (couldnt find a bathroom) and trying to appologize as pee trickled past my feet.
a charming man that thought the cops ought to bash my head in for participating in a demo.
trying to explain to some well-intentioned university students that the image on their placard resembled the hitler salute.
drinking a 40 from a paper bag on some doorstep... or maybe that was in chicago?
good times!
