Race to TRALFAMADORE! (boston)

well, i told you (plural) i was going to throw together a race really quickly, and here it is!

in memory of my favorite author here's a kurt vonnegut themed race for ya.

SATURDAY, MAY 12TH, 5PM registration, 5:30PM start. $5
starting point is charlesgate and commonwealth ave, near the statue (like where 6degrees and the really stupid races started).
prizes will just be a divvying up of the money earned from registration

flier coming soon courtesy of mark (username: ilikeitfixed on bostonfixed.com).

FRIDAY, MAY 11TH, sometime in the morning, i WILL be posting a list of hints

if anyone has any ideas on where there could be an after party/gathering, let me know, because i don't have such connections.

further info will be cross-posted both on this thread and the bostonfixed one.
thanks! come out, have fun

no pall malls or time travel, but space travel will be involved. plus, you will have to pick a beautiful, historic, innocent city and firebomb the sh*t out of it.

each of the characters has a checkpoint connected with him. something about the character in each of the books (sometimes their main feature) is what the checkpoint is.

manifest read:

checkpoints MUST be done in order of publication date

start: charlesgate east & comm ave

billy pilgrim - "slaughterhouse five" (1969)
john dewar & co meat packing plant

1000 mass ave

rabo karabekian - "bluebeard" (1987)
boston art gallery
330 congress st

walter starbuck - "jailbird" (1979)
suffolk county jailhouse
200 nashua st

eliot rosewater - "god bless you, mr. rosewater" (1965)
cam neely benefit foundation
30 winter st

dwayne hoover - "breakfast of champions" (1973)
herb chambers car dealership
1168 comm ave

eugene debs harkte - "hocus pocus" (1990)
boston university marsh plaza
735 comm ave

leon trotsky trout - "galapagos" (1985)
trans national travel agency
2 charlesgate west

paul proteus - "player piano" (1952)
intergen energy inc
1 bowdoin sq

finish: back at charlesgate east & comm ave

connections that my stupid logic made:
-billy pilgrim was in a slaughterhouse; john dewar is a meat packing plant (close to a slaughter house)
-rabo karabekian's secret that he keeps for most of the novel is that he has done a master painting; art galleries have paintings
-walter starbuck was arrested for his part in the watergate scandal; suffolk county jail is a jail
-eliot rosewater is the founder of a benefit foundation; cam neely foundation is a benefit foundation
-dwayne hoover was a cars salesman; herb chambers is a car dealership
-eugene debs harkte witnesses the changing of a university to a jail; boston university is a university
-leon trotsky trout was entombed in a crusie ship that went to the galapagos islands; travel agencies go to islands
-paul proteus worked at an energy plant; intergen is an energy firm

so if you were wondering what was going through my head, that ( ^ ) was it.

here's the gmap route i came up with really quickly
https://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=895003

i'm sure you could have shaved off a few tenths of a mile here and there, but it was roughly a 22mile route.
