How many miles did you ride anyway? Did you at least break a double?

Maybe we should start the broken hearts thread now and get things rolling. I can still plan the route from over here. It just might end up running people into walls and off freeway overpasses. We could call it "the blind leading the dumb".
I kind of like this idea. We could send a map of downtown Atlanta to someone in LA or something, have them pick 10 random intersections without knowing anything about the area, and build a race around it. Could be really easy or hard as hell.

I ended up with more miles than I should have had with my lap count, 193 with 12 laps. I made a few bad choices trying to avoid the park/hills/whatever. My first lap was 1:30 and 23 miles due to the bike change. My spirit was broken when I woke up at 8 Sunday AM (1 1/2 hour nap) to overhear Chris telling Mohamed that he had finished 18 laps. I turned in my RIFD and headed off for a hot bath. The event was amazing and I know how I have to approach it next year.

As far as Broken Hearts, what if all of the checkpoints were intersections of 2 roads with Peachtree in there names?

BTW I am trying my damnedest to keep shaved Josh pics off the interwebs.

if you did the streetname peachtree thing you would send me way further out of my way than just taking moreland all the way down to I-20. When you guys come to St.Pete we're gonna go around and change all the streetsigns to names that change without notice every block,i.e. Euclid/McIntosh. I'm speaking with the city. It'll happen

320 miles?! And I thought the 80-90 mile Cuttin Crew' Classic in Chicago was a ball buster. ****!

this race was awesome again this year. my only gripes were that the electronic checkpoint system seemed difficult to manage (e.g, it somehow lost eleven laps for my team between the end of the race and the posting of the results) and that nobody (including me) organized a moderately paced ride before the race for those that weren't already familiar with the route.
the awards ceremony was the best of any race or other event i've ever been to, there were a
fuc king ton of prizes, and the kids from No Brakes held a mini-competition during the race for brakeless fixed riders.
the reasonable weather made everything (more) bearable, and i liked the longer route a lot.

There was a no-drop parade lap before the race, but you had to wake up in time. I saw all you Tally kids out at Johnny's drinkin Friday night. Actually I think everyone from Florida was out drinking the night before, including myself...didn't think that one through. I think Atlanta did an amazing job and I look forward to changing my body through genetic mutilation from a sprinter to a climber for next years race

The lap counting for that race has never been the best.

Last year I lost laps and gained laps several times before the end of the race. I don't really know how many I did, but I'm pretty sure the lap counting mistakes caused one of the other solo riders to stop riding thinking he had won, which allowed me to take it.

i knew there was a fast lap before the race, and a few of our team rode it. it didn't help much for out-of-towners, though... i think next year we (out of towners) need to get together another slower pre-race route ride.
p.s. i don't drink, and i wasn't there on friday night.
