Gainesville Polo and Caskual Group Rides
Any Gainesville heads check out this sub-forum? If so, I would like to cordially invite you to our weekend games of polo. You know you're interested in playing and we would love to teach you how to play. It's a very relaxed environment with easy-going people who don't take the game too seriously. I provide the mallets, so you would simply have to bring a bike.
Also, I am always down for some group rides. By group rides I mean late night excursions, daytime road rides, riding the Hawthorne Trail, whatever. Just looking to get Gainesville's cycling community together and interacting.
*edit - Ahhh... I misspelled the title of the thread like a moron.

Ha, yes! Are you the person who sent me an invite via Craigslist last week that I completely forgot to respond to? If so, I'm sorry. Is this polo on grass or concrete? Is this the same game Niles from Recycled plays in?
Friday nights are drunk riding nights, if you're down with that. I usually do 30+ish miles a few times a week on the geared bike around 21ish mph, and company is always welcome on that.
We need organization!

Oh man! I didn't expect responses already. Awesome.
Time: Some time after 5 Saturdays or Sundays. It's kind of spur of the moment, depending on what the players' schedules are like. I am available any day of the week after 7, and weekends after 5. The last couple times the games have been Saturdays at about 6 PM.
Yeah, I sent you the email, Mike. Haha. The polo is on concrete atop the parking garage on the UF campus on the corner of Newell and Museum. This is not the group that Niles plays with. This is a younger crowd of students.
I just retired my last road frame, but as soon as I get my new one built up I will PM you.

Eh, we can find somewhere else to play if you are not into the parking garage idea. I've been scoping out a few other places like that pavillion on University and W 4th where you can pay for parking. There's also a nice parking lot behind the Checker's on University.
I'm thinking of making a website for the Gainesville community, kinda like Tallahassee's Tallycat.org
Organizing would be way easier if we had a website.

If you have the abilities to create a website, then go for it! That would be amazing.

I am down for a Tally/G-ville match. Give us time to get a little better so we can actually have a shot at schooling you something proper (we've only played 3 matches so far).

It's casual as long as you don't bonk anyone over the head with a polo mallet.
(The original perp, however, will not be present due to the fact that she is bad at sports and would like to avoid humiliation.)

Yo, Zen. The mallets are just Ts attached to 3 foot lengths of PVC -

(The whiffle ball is ok because you can run over it without eating it and it reforms after being crushed.)

Yo, check it out! Gainesville has its own crappy web forum on freewebs.com: https://www.freewebs.com/gainesville
Heads up on the Gville polo scene:
I posted on CraigsList and got an awesome response. Looks like we will be playing next Saturday! I'm fairly certain we will get at least 6 people playing, so definitely try to reserve some time for next Sat. at 6:30 for polo. We will meet in the Plaza of the Americas. Who's down?

You are my hero! Time to ditch out on BikeForums! (I kid, I kid!)
I should have my new bike in about two weeks, at which point my current bike will be polo-able hopefully.

Ha, no that's not mine! I mean, it looks like it's the same size and approximate age though. Color too... I don't have the original fork though.
Yeah, that bike broke. Seat tube fractured just above the bottom bracket. It's a shame. My life hasn't been the same since.
Seriously weird though. Mine had the same pedals, cranks, stem, bars. How odd.
His:

Mine:

edit: Mine after the cranks and pedal swap, apparently.
