"orlando rat race" july 14
orlando's first alleycat
saturday, july 14th
$5
registration is at 4pm @ heritage park/history center (intersection of magnolia+central, across from tijuana flats)
race starts at 5, ends at a house show with beers and fun competitions for you track bike types

i used to live and pedicab in orlando, pretty fun riding and decrepit cobblestones. this makes four alleycats for central florida in five months!?

I've never been to orlando. What's it like? That part of town where the race is to take place, that is.

the race starts in the center of downtown, it should be in the area around and to the south of downtown. it's a historical district with older houses (for florida) and a lot of gross roads. area is almost totally flat. orlando isn't built on a grid (like most cities) and navigating might suck butt

Those cobblestones are *****es. Ugh. I remember riding around down there...
Sounds like a fun race. I can't get to Florida, but good luck with it!

Thanks to Orlando for coming out to my race i think there was only two guys but i might be mistaking Thistan Campball and Adrien. They both finish the entire race and Adrien got twelfth or eleventh place in the fastest time. They both finish in the top ten overall points race. Good job guys ill see you on the 14th

red light red light is orlandos saving grace.
other then that, as far as the city goes. **** this place. not a real city. there are no cobblestones. those are just bricks(theres a difference, old city philly) and this race will probably be lame.

i've been telling everyone i pass on campus and random cyclists each morning, afternoon, and evening. come on orlando, where is the excitement and intensity we all act like we have in this town? can we act like we don't just lock our bikes up outside of bbq, let's ride the brick til it breaks!
i want to show anyone from out of town that there is potential for a good time. gainesville, jacksonville, and st. pete (yes airwolf, i was there too) have shown me love so far this year, time to give a little back!
p.s. anyone thinking about riding the course on a pedicab? high five for the person who rolls up on one.

a super relief that eric "lemond" montanez will be out of town for this one
also excited to see if those 10-20 fixies that were parked out of bbq bar every night go anywhere else!
i am planning on doing some prolouge time trials at HOWARD MIDDLE SCHOOL (by panera bread @ summerlin+robinson, 4 blocks ne from the race start) with a few of my friends and my father at about 2-3 pm the day of the race. no competition, just some timed warm ups and hanging out, probably some blunts too

i just got home...didnt stay for the party but i'm sure it was a blast. 14 miles wasn't that long but it let me ride pretty hard and not have to suffer too much. what a fun time! congratulations to my brother josh holbrook from boston, but originally from orlando...
here are the top four in the checkpoint race!
1. josh hoolbrook! (boston)
2. nice woman that works at retro city cycles (orlando)
3. me (trevor boddy [land o lakes,fl])
4. snakebite brian jones (orlando)
metha dude skidded three times farther than anybody else!

Had a blast even though me and two other guys got pinched by the po-po right after the first check point.. We didn't even run the red light, just got caught up with the guy who did.. Still managed to finish the race and not come in dead last though..
Much respects to the organizers of the event.. I could imagine how hard it was to get it all together and your efforts are truly appreciated..
Critical Mass on the 27th, be there! https://orlandocriticalmass.org/

thank you all who participated (organizers, check-point volunteers, riders near and far) in making our town's first alley cat a fun one.
