I think Dukes had B+W hard cases similar to those at the bike show...although you can probably find a better price elsewhere.
I packed my carbon bike up in this box when I flew to MTL in April. Worked well, cheap and disposable if your riding back.

watch out who you fly home with. Luthensia wanted to charge me $150 euro to bring my bike back. Air Canada charged $50 there, but since Luthensia owned the plane on the way back, they nailed you.

If you really wanna save some moolah, get Gatorskins from PBK for $35 each. Free shipping. If you need tires fast, Urbane has Rubino Pros on sale for $45.

Urbane's selection was craptacular, one colour in a 23, it's match in a 25 not a single matching pair to be found. Liberty wins with black Rubinos @ 34, and I like the thought of supporting Mitch in his new enterprise. This'll be my third set of Rubino's, I kinda like 'em. Maybe next time I'll splurge on something nifty.

Mmm, another pair of 'new' old school atacs for me. Cruising c-list at 1am paid off. $25 for pedals and cleats. When I bought them my knees looked at me and said "thank you sir, we love you even more"

Stolen Bike Alert
A very dear friend got his very dear bike stolen some time last night or this morning in the Ossington / College area. If anyone sees it I'd greatly appreciate a shout back. It's a charcoal grey 80's Peugeot with carbolite tubing converted to single speed. He's checking the usual places where it might turn up as we speak. Here's a picture. If it doesn't work I'll create a link to his flickr page shortly.
Cheers!

I convinced my wife to let me get a Steelwool Sweet City Ltd. frameset later this summer for commuting (with fenders). This will leave me a frameset available if anyone is interested. It is an IRO Angus powdercoated an off-white by Jet-kote. It has seen almost no miles since powdercoating and will come with a Dura-Ace headset installed. I think the size is 53, but I can measure to make sure. I am thinking about $200 for the frame/fork/headset. Let me know if anyone you know is interested.

Ouch, that sucks TJ... Hope it heals fast... polysporin!
Been a long time since I checked in here, hope everyone is doing well. I now work downtown off Yonge, quite the difference from my Whitby and North York commutes in recent past.
Enjoying riding my vintage Leader road bike, going to take it on a long run on Sunday to Kitchener to watch the K-W Classic which will serve as prep. for the Hairshirt, which I'm going to attempt.
If anyone wants to join on the KW ride, it meets at the McDonalds at Queen/Roncesvalles/King/Queensway (10 Queensway) for 7am, leaving at around 7:15 on Sunday (13th).

Don't worry, it's not going on CL or anywhere else. It'll probably still be here later in the year. You know, you can never have too many bikes....I'm open to reasonable offers as well.
PS: I like your kitchen cabinetry. Mrs. Krusty and I are trying to come up with a bathroom vanity style for me to build for our main floor powder room, and I like the stainless hardware and kickplate you have.

I'll tell you where I got the kickplate if you give me the frameset.

You're right. I hadn't looked at the Col. You can get 105-equipped road bikes for similar prices, ie. the Trek 2.1, but they're still more expensive, and without in-house parts, MEC has to offer brand-name stuff on their bikes. Everything is from a nice parts-specific brand, which is a nice change from all the Specialized/Bontrager components you see elsewhere.

If they keep undercutting everyone, perhaps they'll be found in EVERY bike shop in toronto!

Is it worth it to trade my rear B43 w/ Phil Wood hub (I'll keep the cog and lockring) for a brand new handbuilt set of DA22s on Formula hubs? How much is my wheel worth? The wheelset is about $230 new.
