NJ Bergen county rides, velodromes, circuits?
Hey gang, im in ridgewood NJ. Im getting a fixed/ss bike real soon. I realized i really love the light weight and speed. Rode my MT bike for the first time in years today, cuz i sold my road bike the other week, it was too big and i wanted something new. So i got a fixed coming in.
So yea i realized i really like speed, and would like to go to places to really expand on it.
Anyone in the area know of any places? I have places in my town, but they're usually pretty congested with wallkers, runner, townie bikers. I dont wanna be an intrution, and i dont wanna be dodging people that much.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I'm in Ridgewood as well! And yes, there is little to no fixed gear riders here. Mostly Carvelo riding road bikers or mtn bike riding kids. I usually do 15~20 mile rides from the Duck pond trail to Saddle River Park. Its really nice on sunday afternoon, but if you want clear pathways with not much people, go at like 6am on saturday mornings. Ridgewood has too much hills and bad road conditions to be riding fixed, but oh well!
GO SSFG!
P.S. Probably the closest velodrome near is the one at Kissena Park in Flushing NY.

Yea I do the duck pond trail early, when theres few people on it, its a nice warm-up, a nice 12mile round trip ride. And yea I usually ride around saddle river and surrounding areas. And yea our town/area isnt very forgiving for single-speed riding, lots of hills, but really its not that bad, its only the really steep ones that get me, an only after ive been riding for hours and all worn out. But yea I'm shopping around for a geared bike too, or possibly trying to build one.
I actually live pretty close to the duck pond, right by Summerville, If you ever see a black Mercier Kilo TT with red tires thats me.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but I'm from Bergen County, too. Rutherford, though. I've done the saddle river trail thing once or twice. I was hoping for some suggestions for other places/groups to ride with, too. I found this: https://btcnj.com/ but they don't seem to do a lot of non-A/A* rides in my area. I'm definitely not a 20mph rider. Anyone know of anything more fun/casual?

hey man great time to resurrect!. I was out of the biking game for a bit and JUSt finished building up a pretty decent road bike and looking to go biking with groups. yea not sure of the Bergen county 20mph Cervello type groups you see around here, but something more casual?
