Op. I seriously think today was the first time that I have met you in person. I better know the legend than the man. Funny running into you out of all the thousands of people there.

jeremywhitehorn 06-03-07 03:47 PM

pyze- what's the name of the on line canadian retailer where you bought those crazy upright bars?

We'll have to do another ride soon, that was fun.

that's what i figured. i would have kept going, but it was time for lunch.

perhaps to the bluffs next time? with some food packed!

re routes in t.o.: the leslie spit is great for a weeknight jaunt. those side trails are new. don't forget the 2007 cycling map just came out. for those of you who are new in town, check out the martin goodman trail heading west towards oakville (during off-peak times!) and beyond.

Still shocked that it was his front tire that blew out!

HA!!

That reminds me of a guy who came into the shop today for some new pedals on his Specialized Allez, he ran to the grocery store while I was installing them and I noticed that his old pedals were only threaded about 3/4 of the way in so I just unscrewed them with my hands.

Then as I was tightening the new pedals I grabbed the rear wheel for some leverage and the whole wheel just popped off! So I realized that the guy just tightened the quick releases as much as he could without closing the lever, the thought of going off a curb and having your front wheel come off is no fun.

When the guy got back I had to teach him how to properly use his quick releases.

Misfit Psycles, the FU bar, I bought one of there closeout sale scratched ones for $25, not sure if they are worth paying full price. Awesome bar though.

Al least Toby left his clothes on. Unlike last time.

i would probably pay the cheaper price for them but $50 seems a little steep. i wonder if they have knock-offs at urbane?

I think Urbane has some that are the same, or close enough.

Saw some Freedom Haters representing at RFH this morning. Would have made a shot out, but I was in my race skivvies, feeling vulnerable.

The IRO frames are indeed powdercoated. If you are going to attempt having it stripped be very careful about who you get to do it for you. Powder is a biatch to get off at the best of times..add to this an over-zealous sandblaster and you may be in for a world of hurt. Also as the Jamie is Alu the possibility of frame damage by taking off material in the frame is a concern. I would try and find a blaster that specializes in bikes vs. an industrial blast-painting shop. Bike Specialties or the guy that True North uses would be my first suggestion. Frame warranty will almost certainly be voided as well.

A friend lent me some Zipp 404 tubular rims last summer for my ride across the country. I didn't get a chance to use them, and they are still sitting in my garage. I am thinking of throwing them on my Devinci, are they going to be harder to ride in the city?

"lent"? does he expect them back?

He has a new set (he also has an even newer set on his bike that he's doing the RAAM on, but that bike is going to be auctioned off to raise more money for Sick Kids). When I got them, I said I would give them back, and he said well they're just sitting in my garage. But, until he says he doesn't want them back, I assume that I am to give them back.

That said, I don't ride off curbs and the like, so I'm good on wheels. But I want to try them out, since I cannot imagine spending that kind of money on a wheelset.
