Tell me about it. You have a 1' wide path to ride on usually- between the track and the edge of the concrete. So you get to ride that line and then navigate cars, obstacles, etc. The real fun starts in corners or deeper snow where you suddenly lose sight of your 1' wide path and have to just hold on and hope you guess right!

I talked to Melo Melache about tenant insurance, and they said I didn't need a separate ryder for the bikes. But they wouldn't put it in writing.

BTW- I've also been told that my bikes are covered even if it's stolen off the street.

TRaffic Jammer 03-05-08 11:54 AM

^^ Which makes that worth the price of admission ^^
This morning from my 11 year old daughter. "Daddy, what day are we going to the bike show? " I'm so proud.

Yes, it's one of the new MBPs. It came stock w/ 2GB of ram but I'm going to upgrade to 4 as soon as the budget allows.

state farm

my bikes are covered under my home insurance but i've got a $1000 deductible and only one of my bikes is worth anywhere near that so i'd need all of them to get stolen to justify going through insurance.

re: bike show.

i want to try to hit it up after work on friday... only thing is, my ticket is at the bike joint. the bike joint is open until 6 and i work every day until 6.

is anyone going to be in that area anytime during the day that lives anywhere within a reasonable distance of me (king west... liberty village... parkdale... etc.) that wouldn't mind grabbing it for me and then i can pick it up from you after work tonight or tomorrow?

Was able to give out a reverse door prize on Sunday. Passenger in the back of an suv never looked and whipped open her door. I decided to return the favour and closed it right back on her, perhaps with more force than nessesary. Hope she got her leg back in time. I not sure if the yelp I heard was in surprise or pain, I hope the later.

It was fun riding last night on the side streets around 12. Studded front and slick on the back made for fun turns.

Who's going to the show when? Jer was mentioniong Sat or Sun morning, either of whcih works for me, as does Fri night after 5:30.

TRaffic Jammer 03-05-08 02:01 PM

I'm headin' out on Sunday to the show.... with my youngest daughter. Lovin' it.

I'm going on Saturday, probably either late morning or early afternoon. Gonna try and get some shopping/drooling in before the OCA Annual General Meeting at 3:00.

I_bRAD 03-05-08 02:17 PM

Is anyone else going for grand opening on Friday at noon?

nerdsgirth 03-05-08 03:00 PM

I'm leaning on Friday, not that early though.

Earliest I could get to TBJ now is tomorrow evening, if no-one has stepped up then I can grab it for you Matt, I live in Parkdale (right near Brad) so I'm local.

I'm going to the show Saturday, I'll be doing a slow ride with daughter in tow.

I might have mentioned this before but Erin (paddrocker) and I are taking a wheel building workshop with CBN in the coming weeks (2 parter) and each of us have 2 wheels to build but only 1 gets built in the class so if anyone wants to take the workshop but doesn't have a wheel of their own to build, we've each got 1 that we could "donate" to the cause - as long as you're not a total buffoon that will build a wheel that will explode on me. ;)

Wow. Riding around this afternoon was super-duper-fun. I rode through a block-long puddle on Dundas that was so deep I was dipping my feet fully into the water with every crank rotation. Whee! Wheeee!

I_bRAD 03-05-08 05:54 PM

You're brave! With the shape of the road these days you could go from ankle deep to waist deep pretty quick!

When I lived in Bangalore I assumed a puddle was just that, big mistake. Upto my waist in mud. Lost both shoes. In the city the sidewalks often are big slabs of concrete (always a few missing) over the old sewer ditches. Everyyear people fall in during the monsoon and basically dissappear. Friend of mine fell in while drunk, we had to fish her out fast.

32flavours 03-05-08 06:12 PM

To be fair, I didn't have much of a choice, since the entire curb lane was involved in said puddle. It was pretty hilarious to feel like I was swimming rather than riding though.

sr20det 03-05-08 06:20 PM

thats awesome!
I got drenched in slush by a passing truck today. not nearly as fun. :(

sweep242 03-05-08 07:14 PM

We got hit badly by the mega granular snow so i did not ride today but have been.

Hope to be at the show first thing Sunday morning for the day but that hasn’t stopped me from making two cycling evil-bay purchases this week.
