I'm a gatherin' parts for the latest build. There are some choice items at Ben's Cycle, but I've never ordered from them before. Has anyone dealt with them/him?

Yep, I've delt with them. The service was fine, stuff was packed well enough (crumpled up newspaper but it was all secure) and there were no horrible waits for the package. Check the prices on eBay vs. their actual website - I noticed some variations.e
What are you looking for?
Oh! I think I've got damn near everything for my spring build finally:
- 55cm Pake frame
- 1" threadless Surly Steamroller fork
- FSA Duron X threadless headset
- Nitto RB021 38cm bullhorns
- Tektro dual pivot brake from the used pile at work
- Paul CX brake lever
- Formula/Mavic CXP33 32h wheelset
- Surly 17t cog and lockring
- KMC K710 chain
- Sugino 75 crankset
- Sugino 75 bottom bracket
- Salsa 48t chainring
- ooold Selle San Marco Rolls
- Suntour Cyclone + straps/Crank Bros. Candy SL
Still to aquire:
- White Industries Dos Eno 16/18 freewheel
- either a 26.8 or 27.0 seatpost (gotta measure the frame to make sure)
- threadless stem
Both of those last two items will hopefully be found in a pile somewhere at work ...
The dropouts on the Pake are pretty long, so hopefully my 3-speed fixed/free plan will actually work. The only problem is that my "demon hill" gear is going to leave me with the shortest effective chainstays. Blah.

That sounds good Eye. I was looking at the Nitto B-123 bars and one of the Formula/Alex wheelsets, haven't decided which one yet. I don't know that I could get the wheels for cheaper even if I laced them myself while still doing the 1.5 times mark up for shipping, exchange, and other gouging.
Your build sounds fierce. Love those Pake frames.
I'm not as far along. So far it's a Zeus track frame NOS and generic headset. My bike dungeon has coughed up a Sakae stem, Selle Italia, Christophe toe clips and straps, Lyotard pedals (Frenchies) doing a good imitation of track ones, and a BMX chain.

Copenhagen - i'm going to move there. It's like CM everywhere, everyday, except it's not. And no one rides road bikes.

Nice guys overall and they've got a good supplier for track components that you don't see frequently (Merry Sales out of California, specifically). If you're looking for any esoteric parts that you can't track down otherwise it might be worth the effort to just email them and see what they can do.

As I will not be chronologically challenged by a time change, I'll be there.

It's a tad bigger than I'd like it to be.
and the stem is some cheap Outland stem that I found around @ the shop.
I'll post more pics up when I'm satisfied w/ the build.
for one thing, my cranks aren't even matching.
MONDAY! meet up!

Okay, I have a million and a half bike ideas on the go at any given time but a GT Pulse on the list:
- grass track/path racer (Brooks saddle, Major Taylor bars, 36/36 box rims, cyclocross tires ... mmm)
- 2007 Lemond Poprad frameset + 105 goodness (42x11-28 perhaps)
- On-One Inbred 29er singlespeed (disc brakes and a rigid fork)
- GT Pulse new school track goodness
- eyefloater
PS. Why a 2007? ... don't want mine to match T.J.'s ...
Edit: Got my coherence on.

I took my cyclops for a ride today with a higher seat, a road stem, bullhorn bars, and my eggbeaters and the ride was so much better. You can put some serious speed into that thing and it just keeps wanting more. I guess I'll just take out the NJS gear on special occasions.
After riding my 43x17 fuji touring bike all winter I'm so not used to a 49x15 track pursuit bike. I can really feel the burn in my quads when I'm surging; with my winter bike I was spinning so much I could never get to that stage. I should start doing interval training or something.
Come to think of it, anyone want to start doing some resonably regular and directed training rides/sessions this summer? it would be good to keep up a schedule.. I'm also planning on starting to do climbing again as its super fun and works out all the parts of your body the bike forgets.

I'd be up for some rides, although weekends are best for me as I already do 35 k a day minimum. I'm not sure I need another outdoorish hobby like rock climbing. Apart from my antipathy to heights, I need to get back in my boats this summer.
Shiz, whatever you had today must have been passed on to me. I got pulled over by the fuzz for blowing a red (got a prolonged lecture rather than a ticket, luckily), almost run over in a parking lot, and just about smoked another cyclist while I was passing them as they made a lazy slide over a lane of traffic to stop.
