so who is who?

gokiburi 06-06-05 03:00 PM

yam fries... dammmn... buffalo burger.. hot diggity. gettin hungry. i ride by c'est what on my way home all the time, now i'm thinking about poppin' in.

about the pics: that's me on the red sannino, and my two crazy co-workers, amro and rob, riding a fully-suspended giant, and trek hard tail respectively. some nice spin-out action on the northbound ramp when the gardiner merges into the dvp. i spotted a guy with a bloody shirt and blood dripping down his arm.. nice. rob, i kept peering into the oncoming lane expecting to see you guys (rob is recognizable for some reason) but no such luck. i saw a grand total of 2 fixed gears, a plethora of spandex-carbonium, 1 unicycle, and one of those "chopper-bikes". i spotted the guy on the chopper after the ride but wondered if he did the entire 50km on that thing. damn...

operator 06-06-05 04:22 PM

Yeah I saw the two guys on choppers, that was neat...!

Its funny that you say I am recognizable...A buddy of my lives at King and Strachan and saw me on the Gardiner from his bedroom! How freaky is that! He called me and left a message on my cell phone as I past by his building.

C'est What is definitely one of my favorite places. Its very relaxing in there...even when it gets busy. I like Fionn Macools (mostly for the Kilts) but the Oatmeal Stout at C'est What is definitely a good reason for an extra 50foot walk for me :)

orguasch 06-06-05 06:18 PM

so, who, who in the picture,I know Rob, he was not in the picture.

Lol, only gokibuiri are in those pictures. There's 3 robs around right now. Confusing isn't it.

Bikeophile 06-07-05 06:21 AM

ok so I am Rob, Operator is Rob...Who else is Rob?

Im happy with Robbie...if that helps :)

cavernmech 06-07-05 07:02 AM

The guy on the fixed on the Donut this past weekend is a long time messenger/racer. I wonder if the clown who said fixies were not welcome on the Donut was there. Prolly got his ass handed to him. NICE!!

oops.. sorry for not clarifying.. i'm pretty sure neither of the robs you know are in the pics! both mofos are co-workers of mine, and neither ride fixed, however, both do make fun of me. not sure what the big deal is.

hey rob(bikeophile), haven't been to the fionn's on the esplanade.. but are the kilts there as good as the kilts at the fionn's on king??!!

bikeo, operator and cavit8: did you guys ride together the entire way? logistically, meeting up with larger groups is a pain.. everyone gets separated anyways.

Could have been, hard to say. He's just trying to get a rise out of everyone. Who cares about guys like that? Why would you go on a group ride, then be so antisocial? Anyway, I'm going to ride it a few more times geared in the lead group before I try it fixed...riding in a pack of geared riders on my fixie is going to be a bit of a challenge.

orguasch 06-07-05 02:10 PM

cavernmech,
whoever said that,I am pretty sure that guy has never ridden the donut ride, I have seen guys last year a cyclist riding an MTB. So don't even think aboutthat guy who said that fixies are not welcome at the Donut ride, must be crazy.

Funny you should ask that, bikeo hailed me down when I enetered the CNE grounds (I wasn't even expecting them as it was already 7:30). I remarked that I needed to get my volunteer gear so I headed over to the tent area and came back and never saw them again until lunch :D

I think cavit8 and bikeophile rode together though.

Oh I bet the guy who posted that stuff was definitely a donut rider. If you ever check out www.canadiancyclist.com, you will see several folks who share is opinions as well. There are people on he donut who feel that the ride is for them alone, and not for those who are new to group riding, or on anything but a road bike. Although I don't agree with this comments I do know that he is not alone in his opinions.

and yep, Cavit8 and I did ride together pretty much the entire ride on Sunday. What an awesome day

orguasch 06-08-05 07:43 PM

Bikeophile,
well I have been riding with the group, and I can assure that the group is not an elistist group, , and with regards to the Canadian Cyclist website,I only visit the classified section and the international news but the forum never, the people there are very uptight, and the donut ride is really a mixture of wannabee pros, amatuer, oldies (like me) when you join the ride try going or start from the beginning , or have coffe at the Canadian Bagel shop, at Laird and Eglinton, you will meet the oldies having coffee before the ride, and you will only hear words of encouragement from them....I think Ihave seen Cavernmech, in one of the ride.

Well that's good to hear...I've ridden with some of those guys in the past and had never had a bad experience, but from the Canadian Cyclist site (where you don't have to register a name) folks tend to be very venomous.

:)

orguasch 06-09-05 08:12 AM

Cavernmech,
no no no man, I don't mean it that, your like in your late 20's.

yes, that why I tend to shy away from that forum. know what after a hard day at work, I don't want to engage in a cyber war, I go to my computer go to bikeforums, read the news and play games, that is if the weather is nice, I ride my bike
