1-speed bicycle played an amazing show in Toronto a few years back right after a mogwai show had ended. Mogwai came and got really drunk and started harrassing everyone it was really really funny.

The best offshoot from godspeed remains A Silver Mt. Zion though, all of their albums are masterpieces but their first is possibly the most depressing piece of music eva. I love it.

Just switched over to using mountain bike grips and tape, must say its a much nicer experience when riding up close to the stem, a bit of a pain in the arse to get them on though.

Cavernmech I came across a picture in the forums of a idea I could do with my bike I would like to send you the pic to see if you have the parts, thanks

operator 06-02-06 09:18 PM

So having rode teh fixed I now realize that

1) My position is way too high on my road bike i.e i'm not horizontal enough, need negative drop stem
2) **** gears
3) Aer0bars FTW
4) My frame maybe 1-2cm too big?
5) Brakes FTL

All right good to hear, note a couple of things.
1. Have fun
2. Try not to kill yourself (very important, easy to do at first)
3. Hope you get hooked riding fixed
4. Hope your road bike gets better but not soon!
Cheers

Thanks to cavernmech, I did what he suggested above and this is what my wife ended up with:

She's happy w/ it cuz it's lighter and it's an "adult's" bike (compared to the 24" wheeled kiddie bike from Toys R Us) and I'm happy cuz of the great deal Randall gave us. So the question to cavernmech is, what brand of beer do you want me to drop by your shop with?

I'm going to guess Mill St. Stock Ale. :D

edit: changed my mind. Thought it was the tankhouse at first, but now that I think about it, I think it's the stock ale.

Mill St organic in the teenyweeny bottles! Even a lightweight drinker like me can polish off a sixer

Anything except P.B.R..lol. I will admit to being a Scotch snob but most beer is A.O.K. with me. Grab a few of yer favorites and we can both enjoy em. But yes....Mill Street Stock Ale is yummy.

I mish owr drinkin times buddy. Lightweight? You? Never! Or do you tend to get all stumbly after 3 beers? Memory is kinda fuzzy.

cavernmech 06-03-06 08:20 AM

If anyone (read beer donators) are thinking of dropping by I am gone to the O-Cup Mtn. bike race today at 3. I got a really nasty charlie horse crashing on Thursday but am gonna try and suck it up and race even tho I have a hard time walking up stairs at the moment. All who are doing the Ride for Heart tomorrow....have a blast and watch out for those rookie/newbies out there....including Operator.

See! Your efforts weren't all for not. I'll be dt most of the day then head over after grabbing dinner somewhere. That reminds me, New Generation has been open since Mother's Day. We were there last week and the food was as good as always. Decor is brighter.

If you're in the Annex check out the photo exhibit at Curbside, on until June 8.

Cool, you gonna be at the shop Tuesday?

operator 06-03-06 09:37 AM

Nice rain. I'm not going anywhere until this is gone. Let's hope it doesn't rain for tomorrow.

Actually, I unfortunately can't make this one. I totally forgot until this week that a friend is having a party tonight (both to celebrate her own birthday as well as the fact that she got knocked up recently :P).

Is anyone sneaking in to the Ride For Heart tomorrow? :) I'm considering doing it now since I didn't do my ride today on account of about 5 different things.

operator 06-03-06 11:08 AM

If they stop you go: me is TBN volunteer, grab a radio at the TBN tent and go OPERATOR WHERE ARE J00. BLaze FTW! <- key phrase

STEEKER 06-03-06 11:26 AM

I'm going to, for a bit at least. I like to blast south down DVP dodging stupid, random lane changing, fat old guys riding their litespeeds for the first time since the last ride for heart. I saw a couple of crashes last year, always funny.

STEEKER 06-03-06 11:32 AM

Cavernmech
do carry handle bars in the shop ??

operator 06-03-06 11:36 AM

No one wants to meet up for ride for heat tomorrow ? :/
