Well I am collecting pieces for a SS/fixie build.
This will be my general SS road ripper, fixed track bike and gold sprinter.
As well a full geared 'cross bike, for all my need for speed needs. All bikes will have brakes, as my years messin' taught me that the ability to stop now will keep you alive....like yesterday :D .

Ronin: nice seein' you this morning! You gotta get rid of the freewheel.. ;)

My freewheelin' days are over as soon as I my parts come in for my new fixie... :)

Keith: whats teh colour of the frame?

Offhoff 08-17-06 12:35 PM

Is anyone interested in getting together to go out to Forest City again? I'd love to get back on that velodrome and if we have enough people we should try and do Track 2-4 in one session.

If there is any interest I'll start getting something set up...

yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. (is that enough?)

The first two weekends in September are likely out for me, but otherwise I think I'm free basically any time (edit: on the weekends, that is).

So I plan to go out on the ride last night...race home to grab a bite....tell the better half I am goin' out for a ride....get read the riot act. " Yer going away for the WHOLE weekend to ride yer bike"..."We still have lots of stuff to get from the old place"..."I need these shelves put up pronto!"...etc etc. End result..Lots of shelf space...no ride for me. The back feels great tho...sometimes doin the chores gets me some fine back exercises if ya know what I am sayin'. ;)

So lets make this easier, if you want to come add your name to the list, also note if you need to do Track 1

I'd like to aim for Saturday Sept 16th if there are no problems, and I'm still in the country. If people have a serious problem with that date state so ASAP.

So far:
1: Offhoff
2: Somnambulant
3: Operator
4: Ill Mitch

Yuppers. I think we are at campsite 68 or 69. I will keep my eyes peeled for ya. I have a spot in the van, leaving tomorrow at 6ish, if you know anyone who needs a lift. You racing too? What Cat?

Cool. I'll look for you as well-tons of people there though-like trying to find someone in the eaton's center on december 23rd. I'm riding on a 5 man team. I've only met one or two of the other riders-not sure how competative they are.

I raced at the summer solstice one this year as well. I rode with a big corperate team, so I only did 2 laps. Wasn't too happy with my lap times-but it was fun. Gotta love the night laps-especially when your light craps out with 800m to go....weeee!

TRaffic Jammer 08-17-06 01:56 PM

You racing your 'cross Dark?

I thought about it, but I'm going to take my MTB. My cross bike would be slower overall on this course I think. The problem riding cross against mountain bikers, especially with this many of them on the race circuit- is that they end up passing you on the downhills and technical stuff, and then you end up stuck behind them on the climbs, where you lose all your speed. Mountain bikes and cross bikes are sort of out of phase with one another, like when you keep passing the same TTC bus over and over again, only to have it motor by you at 60 km/hr. The advantage of the cross bike would be on the doubletrack, but I think it wouldn't be anywhere near enough to make up the lost ground. I'd actually love do it anyway, but I don't want to hold the team back if I can help it.

The other reason is that I am scared of my cross bike since my last crash. Sometimes I think I can hear it taunting me as I walk past it. I know that it secretly yearns to destroy me, and any offspring I may eventually have.
