I was looking for some music venues/clubs (not dance clubs) to check out and see who is playing around town.

There are a lot of great bands from Canada IMHO (Constatines, DFA1979, Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, too many)... so something like that... jazz, hiphop, indie, metal in particular... also any art museum suggestions and things that are free are always good ...also anything local, what is the local beer?

thx for the help ...

some of the better beers are: steamwhistle, mill street and amsterdam brewing, all of which you can visit and have a taste or two. Mill street is a nice venue, amsterdam is a bit more industiral bare bones but they don't watch you while you sample. best place to have a pint of the local / microbrew stuff is probably C'est What on front street. Countless beers on tap (all microbrews), laid back vibe, sometimes live music.

i like beer.

jeremywhitehorn 10-27-06 08:15 PM

so did anyone go to CM besides our boy Shiz?

I must concur. I went to C'est What after a bit of a hiatus. Damn, I missed their coffee porter. You can check up on events at http://www.eye.net and http://nowtoronto.com, the web sites for the papers Sweep mentioned.

Relatively local beers are Headstrong Pale Ale, Blackoak Nut Brown Ale, Hockley Dark. Microbrews C'est What makes good everything, Granite Brewery's Peculiar is good, but it's a family-type pub restaurant. Tons of small craft brewers around. I, too, like beer.

Yeah...who doesn't like beer. Mill Street is worth the trip to the brewery as the area has lots of gallerys, cool shops and restaurants when they kick you out for not buying the glass! Perhaps an Amsterdam...Steamwhistle...Mill Street tour is in order?
Oh Yeah...I too, enjoy beer!
