That is a very crimson (and I think, ugly) bicycle. That is most likely one from Satan's stable. Satan rides platforms with no brake. Who knew?

Ok here's the latest on Forest City. I no longer have a car for the trip, I'm in Shamil's car which is full. We are going to do Track 1 on Feb. 17th, so if anyone else wants to try and book that day and can get themselves there that would be awesome. Sorry I know I said I could probably get a car but no dice it turns out. Just call/email either of the track session instructors whose contact info is listed on the Forest City website. Hope to see you there! Later dudes.

right back at you gents. thanks for the brewski to whomoever brought them. i'll have to come by again next week but bring beverages so's not to be a mooch...

a side note: i don't usually like riding in snow but i really enjoyed myself the last few days. the conditions of it were just great (not too much to make you slide around like mad) and i love being able to skid for half a city block.

I like being able to skid in the saddle, and not have my knees disown me.

Wait a second here.
How come the duty is $80?
Isn't that about 50% of the cost?

Who the **** steals your rear fender?!

The ride home from the bar was very cold and wet for my butt and dirty for my backpack.

Duties are the taxes on the declared value of the goods that come across the border. I've been burned a couple of times now, so much so that I will only buy from Canadian eBay sellers unless it is a really good deal.

it didn't seem *that* slow, but i had brought out my mtb w beastly knobbies for the first time in snow, so i was quite happy with the pace. we basically did a big loop, and then went for drinks.

in other news, big knobby tires make for lots of fun busting through snowdrifts on the trails. it's nice to get some use out of that bike, even though my bianchi will always be my first true love.

Shyyyyyte. I think it was still on the bike when we left, but that is totally lame. Come see me, and I'll get you a replacement with an "It sucks you were ripped of" discount.

I was coming back from the bank yesterday...TD near the Beach(es?) on Queen.
I went through the housing development to the south and then cut through the park on the way home to play in the snow. I followed the walkway and then spyed a trail heading up. I ride it to the top and lo, I'm on the top of the toboggan hill. A mom and dad are there with the kids. I check out the face of the hill, icy. I'm letting a little ait out for more contact, and dad asks if I'm actually going to ride down. Of course I say I have to, with a big smile. One of the kids asks dad if he'll ride with him and I over hear Oh' well if I get hurt, who's going to make the money for......" I felt badly for the little guy. Just before I leave I circle behind the parents and say BTW I couldn't help but overhearing...I'm 40 and my kids are a bit older than yours. You are not going to hurt yourself sliding down this hill. Just sayin'." Then I pump off and down .... Great fun bombing the litle icy hill, hopping the gazebo and off onto a hill face on the other side (glad I can still land pointing down) and then whipping across the rest of the park. Dropped over a sewage grate where all this snow had collected pooof with snow ....fun stuff. hmmm bigger toboggan hill now? I hope he ended up sledding with his kids.

TRaffic Jammer 01-28-07 10:49 AM

east side or west side of the DVP? the west side has that staircase to climb back up.

tovi 01-28-07 10:51 AM

Hah! That picture Operator posted is so funny, b/c crossing the finish line doing a pop-a-wheelie is Robbie McEwen's signature move! I guess his competitor here is really sticking it to him.

TRaffic Jammer 01-28-07 10:54 AM

Is that Robbie for the lose in the photo? Oh how context make this hilarious!!!

tovi 01-28-07 11:21 AM

That is too bad, I think that the kid's future memories of toboganning with dad should be more important than worrying about paying bills. Maybe he had a heart or bone condition or something and the danger of getting injured could be real.

TRaffic Jammer 01-28-07 12:21 PM

I thought about that too, so I decided against being completely judgmental based on what I'd first heard. I hope my initial impression was incorrect. Sledding with Dad is a good memory to have. Back to making my soon-to-be-posted DIY corplast fender masters class.

Yeah, memories of your dad as a CHICKEN! Nice.

Lots of folks heading to Riverdale this morning. One twenty something with an old school wood toboggan and a huge grin.... I remember running over another kids head in one of those badboys.
