Sushi Marche (across the street from C.T. a block east of Pape on Queen) has AMAZING sushi ... maybe you could go buck wild and take her out for lunch and dinner (they're not really a fancy sit-down place, more of a sushi cafe). Prices are totally reasonable, eg. slightly more expensive than the sandwiches I get from Loblaws and worlds better.

I've found them at La Bicicletta in the past, if you haven't tried them already.

Hey, I'm stuck down in St. Catharines with slim pickings on conversion frames. I've been watching toronto craigslist, but if anyone has any complete setups or know of any good frames please shoot me a message!

peace

shapelike 05-03-07 09:23 PM

What size do you need?

cavit8 05-03-07 09:53 PM

And much exceptional scotch ( and one Irish) was had by all...

Second that, probably the best sushi I've had in the city.

Heh St.Catharaines. That town made me feel uneasy ...

cavit8 05-03-07 10:32 PM

It's your almond thighs. They get you in trouble that far south.

pyze-guy 05-03-07 10:36 PM

Anyone sell, or have 9 speed barcon shifters for sale?

cavit8 05-03-07 10:37 PM

I have a pair (I think), I'll see how much they may be...

sorry about the mixed nationality; i was pressed for time and didn't want to bring one of the usual suspects (morangies / livets, etc).

thanks for having us.

somnambulant 05-04-07 05:40 AM

yeah, thanks for hosting us scallwags. That last one I tried (really smokey) was grrrrrrrreat.

somnambulant 05-04-07 05:43 AM

You were asking about the SRAM stuff at P-A I believe. Time to track down Lynne Bessette then I guess since she's the second person shown and it starts by pulling back from a close up of her Force brifter.

... bit off w/ that file photo, guys. Kind of a different context from the story ...

Tack Somna's info onto her podium chit chat:
"I had a little mechanical: my derailleur broke so I didn't have a lot of gears."

Ahh ffs, so did it get hit, did she crash, did it just magically **** off and die on her? Looks like I will need to track her down and get a ride report.

Sauvignon in the Beaches...just west of Woodbine on Queen. Very good food...not super pricy..excellent service and a cosy atmosphere. You can read my latest restaurant reviews at grumpyoldman.com.

Yeah, Dave (tempo) mentioned something about that just after the race. He might have more info.

Yeah, I feel you there. It's not so bad during the school year, but once brock gets out the crazy homeless come out and play.

Thanks guys

I was talking with some of the guys in the front group....a cable or something critical on her rear derailleur, in the 1st 10k. So she rode two speed 39 x 12, 44 x 12, but i'd imagine the former for most of it. nonetheless SS FTW!

Shiznaz 05-04-07 09:16 AM

What mountain bike shoes should I buy? My main concern is that they must last forever, and have a really hard sole that won't get chewed up by my pedals like the last pair. I'm thinking dominators with their replacable treads but their fit doesn't seem conducive to walking. Should I pony up for the italian?

somnambulant 05-04-07 09:52 AM

I find the Dominators awful for walking, personally, but the soles do seem fairly indestructible. Running up a hill offroad isn't too bad in them (since you're mostly on your toes then), but walking on flat ground is a recipe for a sprained ankle. They roll over really easy... and that's the Mega version!

Just make sure you get a Dominator 6 (or Dragon) and not a Dominator 5 if you want the replaceable sole.

I do totally love them though.. super comfortable, especially with different insoles.

There are bike co-ops here in Hamilton that may serve your purpose.

At McMaster's we have a few older road frames, then there's Recycle Cycles in the city, they have a bunch more.
