I'm going to be drunk at a dive bar in Flint, Michigan (is there any other kind of bar in Flint?) ... enjoy CM. Hey, how big does the Toronto CM get in the warm weather? I've only participated in a few winter CMs. Since it was cold weather each time the numbers present were quite dismal.

Somnabulant>> Nothing removes superficial rust on crome like steel wool and some elbow grease - I pulled off what looked like thick structural rust from the chromed (in the early 80s) seatstays on my well used second-hand (OhSoSweetSweetIloveMy****in'Bike) concorde frame with basic steel wool and a few minutes of rubbing. Granted, not all chrome is dipped equal - different chrome content and dipping processes will give you varying quality of thickness and metallic composition, so it's possible that your chroming is thin and/or particularly prone to oxidization. That said, nothing seems to make slightly rusted chrome ressurect like steel wool and simichrome polish, although the latter only gives you the last 5%. Th trick is the steel wool - acts as an oxidization-biased abrasive from what I've been able to gather (the science-types may wish to interject here, and are welcomed... I'd love an education as to why it seems to work so well).

We did Cm last year august, there was hella lot of people. Like > 100. It was quite the ride, except for the ludicrous speed it went at.

Yeah, like you could honestly lock up your bike and walk faster. Not exactly the best way to show motorists how practical bicycle commuting is. The bike cops were a bit of a wet blanket too-but then, I have a problem with authority.

that's why halloween was more in the spirit of CM.. lots of people AND no cops (work to rule stuff). somehow I don't think it would have cut through the Eaton's Centre had there been cops. :P

Where did the Cm go thru? If it was right by the Roots store and the old Eatons there is a reason. A cop friend of mine mentioned that there used to be a street where the Eaton center now stands and that this part of the building is still deemed a "thoroughfare". So legally they cant stop you from taking your bike thru. I used to go thru there as a shorcut all the time when I was messing. An over zealous (is there any other kind?) security guard gave me a hard time once and it was after this that I mentioned it to my buddy. My guess is the leader of the ride was aware of this fact.

yeah.. we turned North off Queen onto that street that runs "behind" the mall. Then we went through next to where Eaton's was / Sears is.

Where did the theatres used to sit anyway? I've only lived here since 2000.. My gf and I were speculating about it on the weekend.

The back/;side? was the western wall of the alley/road off Dundas, it had movie posters on the wall and it ALWAYS smelled like popcorn going through there. My wife used to work at Bell and I would take the kids through there to play in the parkette there while waiting for her to get off work.

..and home to the worst screens in the history of worst screens. like watching the tee-vee. damn, i've watched some bad movies in there. the street exit/entrance was also on dundas (south side) directly across from what is spring rolls now. damn, that's a nasty restaurant.

I always wondered about that..... a restaurant called that in the homogenized area of downtown not four blocks from the China Town, Same as the ones in Yonge?

i think it's a chain. there's another at front/jarvis. yonge street's definitely infested. there must be one in the yonge/eglinton area too if anything. the food isn't THAT nasty, but for what i'm paying (it sure ain't for the tacky decor) i can go to chinatown or the burbs for the real deal.

Saigon Palace...mmm been too long. Almost a month. The ones on Yonge...used to be busy...are they dead now. I think the era of cross culture cuisine might be at an end. If Joe and Jane Wonderbread want chinese/thai/vietnamese I think they go to China Town now..... least I hope they do.

To be the devils advocate... I do kinda like the Americanized chinese food but it has to be done well.

Saigon Palace has become a weekly ritual for me. I dig their noodle soups. I liked it better before they renovated though-they used to have this hilarious calandar on the wall, with each month featuring a different asian girl in a bikinni, sporting an assault rifle. It was tasteful, yet elegant.

Satay Beef on salad and spring rolls...mmmmmm.
Elegant as only a bikini model toting an assault rifle can be. lol

i recommend pho hung (the smiling cow) at NW corner spadina/st.andrew.. their noodles can't be beat. and you'll never meet a more sullen/rude wait staff. just part of the entertainment.

I usually go there for lunch. Wait staff are slow with the bill, but other than that can't really say they're rude.

The frame was already sandblasted when I bought it. A Major perk!
