Ah, sorry, my bad, thanks for clarifying. There are so many different steel frames out there now, it is hard to keep them straight, no pun nintendo'd.

they also seem to have stocked up on track related stuff as well. they've got champ grips for example... pricey though.

Does anyone have any good leads on cheap (read << $100) but "good quality" road shoes in town? I tried hitting up some shops today looking for clearance stock from last year, but I think I might be one spring bike show too late.

Mec. I'd say just get the sidis they'll last through many crappy pairs.

dude, that's one step away from sitting on milk crates and playing dice! ghetto, ghetto. i keep missing the safety meetings; i was helping a buddy move furniture tonight so could not attend. i did raise a beer in everyone's honour though.

on another note, does anyone have a cheapish 6-speed (or other "esoteric") rear wheel they would let go for cheap, or for trade? i want to build up my pink bridgestone into a moustache-barred townie. have to find a need for the plethora of downtube shifters i found at the bike show...

Yes me to. People around here must think i have an odd sense in fashion when i’m off the bike because not many would know that they are cycling shoes.
I love to try some metal clips & leather straps. So far i have not.
Cheers

I love me the clipless. I found I didn't feel as "connected" to the bike with trap'n straps. But I see tons of people riding them fixed so maybe I'm just lazy or something

Anyone going out to the Poker Run today? Weather looks like it's gonna be shifty all day.

i really don't know how to play poker but i will be riding from place to place today collecting an assortment of playing cards. when you win you jump out of your chair and shout, "BINGO!" right?

charlie - last night when i met your roommates the first thing i thought was, "which one of these guys looks like they threw a mouse through a window?"

clipless? never tried it. i'm too afraid of pulling out mid-skid. life's all about good stories though.

i hear that. i've worn my lakes to interviews, clubs, etc. i get lots of questions about them. i'm always like, "s'all about the acceleration, man"...

i admit i was scared to try clipless at first. was off-road for the first try, didn't fall, hit the streets the next day and haven't changed 'em since. only time i couldn't clip out i'd been riding around in mud so the cleats got borked up, but i landed on nice soft grass so it didn't matter.

the exustar mtb ones from mec are ok, i've been pretty tough on them and they've held up well. nothing compared to the quality of my sidis of course, (which i got a good deal on) but fine for a starter pair. i like mtb style for everyday because they're marginally easier if you have to walk around/take stairs.
