So, I think the GT is cursed. I stripped a steer-tube binding bolt on the alter stem last week, got a flat yesterday and broke a strap today. I bumped my knee when the strap broke and it is still smarting

anyone gonna be out riding in the north end thursday night?? I gotta drop my jeep off at queen street (hwy7 brampton) and old kennedy after work, and i'm gonna be riding back to yonge and 401 area... So brampton to metro hahaha here's hoping that the rain holds up!!! I'm comin south to steeles, and across where it meets finch, then east on finch FTW to yonge... So if you see some poor ******* of a blue miele with a blue/gold/blue bag about to fall over and die... say hi!

1. Are you nuts? re: GI
2. If you're going to/from b-town, its much safer to take Clark across to Devon, then Intermodal to Finch. Depending on where you need to get to, you can take Finch (death trap), or the Humber trail and a bunch of side streets. Heck, even Wilson would be safer than Finch.

Also +1 on Wilson over Finch - less rollers and just generally a better ride - I take it eastbound between Keele and ~Bathurst or Avenue unless I bother to cross Yonge - with my current 80GI I really don't fancy that yet though .

If you can pre-plan your route (in the dark might be tricky) - the Humber trail is definitely really nice, though IMO it's something more for a daytime ride, I don't like MUPs at night (short of having some serious lighting anyway).

I'll likely be up at Keele/Steeles for the rest of the week - If you want some company for some of the way, that's cool - let me know/PM me - I usually leave that area at 5-5:30ish. I'll take the opportunity to ride east over to my buddies.

That is/was Rob (Bikeophiles). He had an accident and left it at BOW. I was under the impression he left it IN the store. The front wheel was toast. But he did have Record Pista cranks that I see are no longer there. SO SAD!!!

And for the record..he doesn't hate his bike...but riding it with a busted arm and sprained wrist wasn't a possibility. Thanks for the usual kneejerk response.

I wouldn't call it kneejerk, but whatever, you're sticking up for your friend who was hurt so there's no sense arguing about it. Hopefully he heals up soon. Someone get his damn keys and bring the bike inside though!

i don't get this.. they have a shop.. they have a bike which is one of the nicer ones that toronto streets see.......... and they leave it parked outside?

i've been to BoW numerous times and they have more than enough room to park customers bikes inside while 1. waiting for parts or 2. if its going to be left there for more than the business day..

odd... hope that guy gets his bike in working order with the class parts he had before all this..

I've taken WIlson up to Highway 7 from Dundas, not too too bad, though granted it was at 6:30 in the morning and then back down about 4ish.

my understanding is that it was in the shop for a few days but when they couldn't fix what needed to be fixed the owner came to pick it up at which point he locked it outside... the guys from the shop were all surprised when it was still there the next day and after a few more figured that something must have happened to the owner but i guess no one knew him to be able to get in touch with him...

keith - that sucks... i hope you didn't think i was trying to cut on the guy, i really just thought that someone should get in touch with the owner and let him know... if you can get in touch with him let me know... i'll go get his keys and get what's left of the bike for him...

He will be going by there today to grab whats left. He was pretty seriously injured and hasn't had the opportunity to pick it up. I didn't know it was on the street or I would have gone up there and grabbed it myself...he is using my Krypto Chain which I have the spare key for.

As for the comments... I am just tired of people here who just arbitrarily make judgements without knowing the situation. That someone must hate their bike because they left it locked up somewhere. That someone without brakes is reckless or stupid....etc etc etc. Most of the time I can't be bothered to respond to this thread anymore but when a friend is involved I couldn't resist.

That really sucks. When I was out in the ambulance, we picked up injured cyclists all the time and, being a cyclist myself, I would insist that they not only lock up the bike but tell a family member or friend where the bike was (when they were calmed down and at the hospital, obviously). More often than not, I would get the cops on scene to throw the bike in their trunk, insuring that the person could get their bike at a later date.

I can only imagine the suckage that occurs when you are released and then you go to get your bike and it is stripped or gone. I wish I had some decent parts to offer up but it sounds like it was a nicer build than I have on hand...

Wow, that does look refreshing. I am a Guiness man m'self but sometimes a Hoegartten (sp?) or a Corona is really nice, especially on a patio just as the sun is goind down. Dang, it isn't even cold yet and I am already longing for the summer...
