My first real century.

100 miles, solo, some 10 mph winds, moderetly hilly. in 5:30. I feel good about the time, as I don't feel as if I was pushing it, just spun alot. I'm sure it could come down alot, as I did a metric century earlier this year in 2:54 with a group with the last 20- 30 miles w/o a group. I'm sure I will sleep like a baby tonight :)

Congrats, FA. Excellent effort!

How many miles per week are you riding?

Bravo,

Nothing at all wrong with a 5:34 century. In fact, any century is to be appauded. Sleep well.

p.s. hope my next century comes close.

Congrats! You're lucky you had mild winds. Here in GA today it was very windy :(

ya know I can't recall what my mileage per week is. usually prob about 250 all solo. But this week must be over 300. There is a bike club here at Auburn but they ride a 6:00 in the morning, but I like to ride in the afternoon after classes when I am more awake and can burn off some steam, ya know it keeps me sane. its been windy here for the past week. I should prob try ad ride with a group more often, it will seem so much easier having people to draft off of after all the solo riding.

We've had some pretty bad winds up here in TN, too. I know how you feel!

The collegiate cycling season wraps up soon so either next week or in two weeks the Flyers will be out at AHS for their Saturday group ride at 7:30am . This would be an excellent ride for you. Average speed is usually around 19 and 22 mph for 60 - 80 miles. I would guess that you are already faster than some of the team members.

I don't know if djbrod has mentioned it or not but he and I are riding at Pine Mtn on Mondays with another guy. It's about an hour drive from Auburn, but it's the best climbing around here. PM me if you want to try to meet up with us.

I haven't mentioned it yet but you should come out and ride. It's a great workout and fits your criterium of a late afternoon ride. The 6AM ride is too early for me too. How's the OCR been treating you?
