Uploading courses from Garmin 510 to Connect
I have several courses that I created in my Garmin Edge 510. I'd like to upload them to Garmin Connect, but I can't seem to find a way to do it.
Does anyone know if it can be done?

So you have to do it indirectly:
The easiest way to save a route (course) from your device on Connect is to first ride the route, save it, and then upload the ride file to Connect.
Then view the ride detail on Connect and click the tiny gear icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Select 'save as course' from the dropdown. At that point you can make modifications to the course; such as tweaking plot points, change the pace for Virtual Partner, etc...

On a side-note, do you know if it's possible to change the screen contrast. I can barely read the thing half the time, and I've been through the settings up, down, left, & right.

- Color Mode: This is in Settings > System > Display
You can change the display colors between a 'day' & 'night' mode, perhaps helping visibility in certain lighting conditions.
- Screen Brightness: Do a quick press on the power button to get to the 'Status' page, then press the + / – buttons to adjust the backlight.
Obviously, the brighter the screen, the shorter the battery life.

There isn't a contrast setting that I know of, but there are two settings you can mess with to try to make it easier to read.
2. Screen Brightness: Do a quick press on the power button to get to the 'Status' page, then press the + / – buttons to adjust the backlight.
Obviously, the brighter the screen, the shorter the battery life.

You can also auto upload through Bluetooth if paired with a phone with the Garmin connect app. I've had issues with that though, and issues with the 510 not correctly saving ride data (becomes corrupt). Check the recording interval. If set to Smart, change it to 1 second. I had one ride of 25 miles that in the end was lost because the .fit file it produced was incorrect (bad data).

It's actually pretty easy to recover the damaged file.
I'll post how later today...

Thanks. Are you using the Fit File repair tool? In my case, it did not work for me for this one particular file. I find it odd that there is this sophisticated repair tool out there for Garmin files (for purchase). Perhaps Garmin needs to higher the guy that put the tool together.
fit file repair tool - Home
fit file repair tool - Home
Use https://garmin.kiesewetter.nl
Upload the file and click on the '_autofix.fit' repair option.
However, it's a 50/50 chance whether Connect will be able to import the repaired file.
If it doesn't:
- Import the repaired FIT file into Strava.
- Then export it from Strava as a GPX file.
- Then import the GPX file into Connect.

No, not the FIT file repair tool referenced above.
Use Home Page
Upload the file and click on the '_autofix.fit' repair option.
