How many Jerseys do you own?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How many Jerseys do you own?

I don't know about you, but I notice the guy who comes into the group ride with the exact same Jersey every time. How many do you have and why?

I think 7 is a comfortable number, 1 a day for riding and no excessive laundry during the week when you're really active. I only have 2 bibs and 5 shorts though. Shorts are just cheaper. Especially when Jeresys are 40~100$ a pop.

Also, if my Jersey doesn't tell a story, then it's not my thing. : )

40 ... maybe 50.

I'd have to get up and start counting to find out.

30 or so. 2 new team kits each year (as sponsors change), some jerseys from events, won a couple, a gift here and there, and they add up over the years.

I have about 30 jerseys without counting but tend to wear my favorite one all the time or at least on long rides. I supose you would notice me.

Why do you notice what the other fella wears?

I have 10+ pairs of Assos shorts? 4 pairs of Mille S5. 3 pairs F1.13.S5. 3 pairs S7.Cento. 4 pairs Assos non-bib shorts. Even with cheap shorts, I have never found that they cost less than a jersey. YMMW.

Maybe he is new to riding? I only have one jersey...hand washing doesn't use all that much water along with my bike shorts and I am too cheap to buy more decent quality ones.

I think I have 8 short sleeve, 1 lightweight longsleeve and 2 thermal longsleeve jerseys.

If you want to count bottoms, I have 4 thermal tights, 6 shorts, 3 bib shorts and 1 bib knicker (impulse buy and it fit really well and was 75% off).

sorry guys, I haven't caught up to you but I did just start in January . Give me a little time and I will catch up.

I've got two that I wear regularly, and two shorts/glove sets to go with it, one set of arm warmers, two sets of leg warmers, a soft shell, and a rain shell. I ride almost every day. I'm too cheap to buy more.

2 long sleeve, 2 short sleeved, all without any of the logo crap that tries to make one look like a pro. Just bright solid color, maybe a stripe on the arm or a side panel.

BTW, with wool you don't need oodles of stuff. You can wear it a for a week of heavy cycling and it will never stink, never. Quite remarkable whether warm or cold, wet or dry.

About 15 divided between sleeveless, short sleeve and long sleeve. Six pairs of shorts. One pair of bibs, which I despise (because they're bibs, no other reason).

I'm probably a dirt bag but I wash my jersey & bibs in the shower after a ride and hang them on a line to dry. I don't see the need for so many kits.

I can't answer for anyone else, but for me ... I have 40 or 50 jerseys because I like them.

Two dozen short sleeve jerseys, about 6-8 long sleeve, 6 bib tights, 8 bib shorts two shorts 3 regular tights, 4 jackets, two balaclava, lots of gloves - fingerless, finger-ful, insulated, lobster, Only two helmets and two pair of glasses. 9 pairs of cycling footwear - shoes, boots, sandals. Almost everything bought on Ebay, sawp meets or through Nashbar. I am a value shopper who wants stuff!!! Having listed all that stuff I have to say that I consider my inventory to be quite adequate and don't buy very much anymore.

I have 5 and I ride about 3 times a week. I just picked up this sweet Spider-man Jersey and MIGHT get the matching bib or shorts:
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...VL._SX342_.jpg

I must admit though, I do not think any version of Spider-man weighed the 285 lbs I currently weigh....

Probably a dozen or so. I have two winter jerseys as well as a long-sleeve cool weather jersey. I have a few jerseys from work because when they sponsor a charity event and we ride for them, they supply a jersey. I have a couple jerseys that I bought when I was starting out that I don't really like anymore but just can't bring myself to throw away. I also like to pick up jerseys when I travel. I hate shopping for clothes for work, but I like to shop for bike jerseys.

I've probably got about a dozen that see regular use - like Merlin, two new team kits a year add up.

Then I probably have another dozen or so that are older and are stored in the guestroom closet. I should probably get rid of them, but I kind of like having my old team kits too. And I've probably sold a dozen or so on craigslist over the years. Bibs, they just get tossed when they wear out.

I just counted 64. About 10 are in the too small category and about 20 are in the too large category. 3 still have tags on them.

How do you know it's the exact same jersey?

These two are different

Louis Garneau XS racer-fit on left, XS pro-fit on right. I own two more of the right jersey, two almost identical with exposed zippers in XS and XXS pro-fit, one almost identical to those in XS racer-fit, and one in XS skin-fit aero form.

>How many do you have and why?

Those plus two more LG XS pro-fit and one LG XS skin-fit in short sleeve.

That's 10 short sleeve jerseys which fit.

One long sleeve which fits - Voler XS race fit thermal jersey nice for evening commutes . I have a pair of LG wind jackets in racer-fit small and XS for easy and hard days which usually work better and fit in a pocket once no longer needed.

Basically one a day so I only need to do laundry once a week and don't get zits on my chest from wearing dirty jerseys, although I wear skin-fit jerseys on hard days so there's no flapping at all past 20 MPH, sweat wicks better, they stay parked over my belly in spite of the shorter length/snugger fit in the shoulders, and there aren't any spots much tighter or looser than others. I'd probably have been happy with XXS pro-fit jerseys for all rides, except they don't make those with short sleeves and I've only stumbled across one sold to the European market where people are smaller.

8 are LG previous year sizing samples I bought new for $20-$35 in pro-fit/racer-fit and $50 for the aero jersey so I didn't go broke after my other jerseys no longer fit.

I also have some which don't count because they don't fit - four medium short sleeve jerseys comfortable with 40 pounds more, five big enough for 60-70 pounds excess weight, and a large long-sleeve. I'd have more if I trained 12 hours a week when younger and/or didn't wear dirty jerseys. A few recent experiments didn't work out well - one not-stretchy square diamond LG XS pro-fit which doesn't fit in the shoulders, one XS Voler United Health Care team left over where the stitching is too tight in the arm cuffs and it's loose in front, one Pactimo long sleeve small race fit which is larger and flappy, one XS LG Ventilla LS which is stretchy and flappy.

That's 13 I don't wear for 23 total.

Also, if my Jersey doesn't tell a story, then it's not my thing. : )
Louis Garneau XS pro-fit are the largest jerseys which fit when I'm in good shape. Jerseys from breweries and events tend to be club-fit which is right out, and the smallest sold by brands like Castelli are made for people who eat too much gelato.
