You have to make sure the stuff you buy is compatible.

Not to mention overheated riders from aero helmets that don't breath and skin tight clothes

I keep reading about people with frames that take max 23mm or 25mm tires.
I suppose one just goes by the specs of the frame, and it gives manufactures a reason to design, build, and sell NEW frames.
On the other hand, if one never rides larger than 25mm tires, there is no reason to give clearance for 40mm tires.
I find my horizontal dropouts are a bit of a pain, but the vertical dropouts allow much tighter tolerances with the seat tube.

As long as you stay away from indoor training the biggest heat problem in cycling is body fat - that stuff traps heat. As a thin cyclist I literally sweat just 1/3 to 1/2 as much as when I was fat. I need to sleep in pajamas so I don't get cold, although I think cycling performance is worth that sacrifice.
