In places where vehicles will be criss-crossing lanes (like ramp exits and entrances) wait till it is absolutely clear, before crossing said area- Do not expect drivers to expect you to be there; much less see you, or give you the rtight of way, even if it is legally yours.

Ride as if you are invisible. You often are.

limited access highway with lanes beginning/end and entrance exit ramps are very dangerous for bikes. I always try to time them so I have a clear of shot as possible, then hitting it hard to minimize the exposure, all the time head on a swivel. and knowing where the bale out option is.

This accident obviously wasn't the cyclist's fault, but some situational awareness of the danger of the changing lanes and they like could have predicted the danger and avoided it.

good news, it wasn't your fault.

bad news, you're dead.

Exactly. It's a very dangerous situation, and oine has to really take every precaution in such a spot, to absolutely minimize the dangers. The bail-out plan, too, is always a good idea, no matter where you happen to be.

One thing I'm wondering, from seeing the video: That the cyclist signaled that he was bearing right, in a situation where it really wasn't necessary to do so; I'm wondering if he knew something was coming up behind him; or if he is just a very conscientious person? [Although, I'd think if he were so conscientious, he'd look, or at least have a mirror....]

Or at the very least, messed up a bunch with a busted bike and soiled drawers.

don't see any straight ahead lane for the truck, looks to me like it's crosshatched with white paint.

Saw this recently too. Just dumb.
I'd rather ride the craters of the moon and mars a 1,000 time over risking irreparable damage to my bike than ride in the middle of multilane highways once in this day and age where people one don't take driving as seriously and importantly as it should and two where they find everything possible to distract themselves from the road.

Just look at this blithering idiotic airheads:
