What Front Derailleur
I have a 2004 Trek 1200 and the front derailleur broke. All I know is that I took off a tiagra derailleur. I just when off a whim and bought an ultegra replacement without thinking about it and now that its installed it seems pretty clear that it does not fit (granted the possibility that I installed it wrong is also on the table). I am trying to figure out what exact part I need but the internet isn't treating me so well. I would just like to put a part on it to sell the bike, so nothing fancy needed. Thanks!
P.s. if you want a new ultegra derailleur....

Are you triple? if yes than select 3x10 (works w/ 9spd) you need to know the tube size, you don't know...what size seatpost do you have? Its the next size up from that post size

Shimano clamp-on derailleurs often have the size stamped on the inside of the band (e.g., 31.8). Double vs. triple is a concern with both clamp and braze-on styles.
Do you still have the original FD? It might also say something like 'FD-4403' on there, which would really assist this forum in helping you out.

Something like this will work just fine:
wiggle.com.au | Shimano Tiagra 4603 Triple 10 Speed Front Derailleur | Derailleurs Front - Road
Just figure out whether you need a 31.8mm band on or a 34.9mm one.

The below is probably suitable, assuming you need a clamp-on 31.8 like my 2002 trek 2000
